Q: If I purchase two twin XL frames can I join them to make a king size bed? Or if I purchase a king frame can they separate to make 2 twin XL beds?

A: Any modifications to the frames, such as joining two Twin XL frames or separating a King frame, will void the warranty. We recommend using the frames as intended to ensure they remain covered by our warranty.

Q: Zinus answered that weight capacity is "250 for Twins, 500 for other sizes" BUT the About section says 1500 max for Twins & up to 3K for other sizes... So which is accurate: 250/500 or 1500/3K, & why the big discrepancy?

A: Hello the weight for the original basic Smartbase frame could only hold up to 250/500 lbs. The gene Deluxe can now hold up to 1500/3000 lbs.

A: Hello, a box spring is not required with this frame. The mattress should stay in place, it should not slide around.

I am almost 70. I put this together by myself. Because I don't have the strength in my hands, I tightened the wingnuts with pliers. One of the braces didn't want to go in, but a whack with the pliers took care of that. Very sturdy. Love the extra storage available under the bed. Also, a new cat hideout!

I am in love! This is sooo great! Doesn’t require you to have a “box spring” which is awesome. We have a super fluffy bed and it works perfectly with it. Tons of storage space underneath and looks modern. The best purchase I ever made and super easy to put together! Just buy it! You will love it!

The frame worked great on a TwinXL mattress. The height was perfect to put storage boxes underneath to save space in the room. Also, after a week of use it supports the mattress perfectly and is very comfortable. Very pleased with the frame!

We bought one and it was easy to put together. The frame is sturdy and even. No problems. We used it as a platform, with no boxspring. Two weeks later we bought another for the spare bedroom. It was nice tbs one person can handle assembly.

SO Disappointed !! I ordered this "Deluxe 16" smartbase - black- Zinus " on Feb. 19th and received it today March 2nd. I was excited to have finally received it only to unwrap it to find a gouge in the corner of the metal and one metal leg is worn thru the plastic protective cap. ( It looks like it got dragged around a cement floor, BEFORE they boxed it . ) IF I decide to keep it, looks like I'm going to have to dr it up, so it don't damage my carpet etc smh ! Shouldn't have to ... it's NOT why I bought it "NEW "

Surprisingly thrilled! I did not like the looks of it in the pics very much. I mean I preferred the bigger, 4 chunky legs look the company also makes but decided to buy this one and take a chance. I mean, the bed skirt hides the legs anyway, right? And it's cheaper. But what makes it great is the legs are recessed under a bit which makes the miracle of it being a toe-stubbing prevention design. That is a very cool thing indeed. I have smashed my toes on bed legs positioned normally so many times... maybe it's just me... this bed frame's design makes it so worth it... But wait - that's not all! - It really is actually solid solid solid. I would be the first to say something was even the slightest insecure or moved - this bed does not. Really happy with it. I bought it for the guest bedroom and will now buy another for the master bedroom. Oh, and I got the 16" high one. The height of the top of the mattress is not too low, not too high, and the clearance and access underneath superb - I wouldn't go less personally - There is no such thing as too much storage space. With the king bed size, just so you know, yes, it's light and easy to move without the mattress on top, but once you have a mattress on top and your bed happens to be on carpet, should you wish to move it - it isn't going anywhere easily. Just get a helper to move it carefully with you.
