Description
Keep the flooring in your home protected and add cushion underneath your favorite area rug with the ¼” Dual Surface Premium Rug Pad from Mohawk. This rug pad is ideal on hard or soft surface flooring and can easily be trimmed down to size with household scissors, perfectly fitting any size rug in your home. The pad is made with a combination of natural and synthetic rubber materials and 100% post-industrial recycled synthetic fibers. Rug pads have many benefits, including keeping area and accent rugs in place, extending the life of your rug, protecting against abrasion and wear on all flooring types, reducing pile crushing from furniture, and making vacuuming easier, too! The Dual Surface Premium Rug Pad is safe for all hard surface flooring types and will not stain or discolor your floors. To use: On hard surface flooring, place the rubber side down against the floor and felt side up against the backing of your rug. On a soft carpeted surface, the felt side should be placed down against the floor with the rubber side against the back of your rug.

I like that this pad is made in the USA. However, the felt is coarse and very rough. I planned to use this felt side down to protect my new linoleum floorand pad the uncoated rag rug on top of it, rubber side up. I am returning for another softer option I hope to find.

We are sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the product and hope that you were able to get this resolved with Target. The felt side of the dual surface rug pad is meant to be rough as that side is meant to grip carpet fibers to prevent slipping. To get the optimal use out of the dual surface rug pad, it needs to be laid according to flooring type. For carpet, place the rug pad under your rug with the felt side facing down toward the floor. For hard surface flooring, place the rug pad under your rug with the non-slip latex rubber side facing down toward the floor.

I like the thickness of the pad, assuming it will add some warmth to the room which is all hard wood However the thickness can interfere on whether your door can open and close a with ease. Yes, the product description says you can trim it, but you’ll need strong hands and sharp scissors. As far as keeping your rug in place, depends on the type of rug you’re putting on top of it and how much use said carpet gets.

We got this to go in our finished basement. We took it downstairs and unwrapped it. It smelled bad but I thought it would fade. But the next morning our whole house smelled of chemicals/plastic. We ended up having to take the mat and let it air outside for 3 days. Finally brought it back inside and our basement still smells weeks later.

Our non-skid backing can have a smell from the latex used in the manufacturing process. This smell is inherent to the product and originates from rubber trees. Rug pad is as expected. This revenue is more for the excellent customer service I received. tbe rug pad was suppose to be delivered 2/29 but got lost in transit so by 4/1 I still had not received it. I called target customer service and they remedied the issue immediately. Offered me a full refund or replacement without charge. I selected a replacement and it came in under a week. This attention to service has me coming back to target again and again!

The quality is great; however, this rug pad is not 3x5 as stated on the cover. I had to waste 30 minutes cutting off a good 2-plus inches to make it fit right underneath my rug.

I wish it was a little softer because I walk in my bare feet so it isn't the soft feeling rug however since it's under my chair it's probably better that it's not I just don't like the feeling on my feet.

It provides just enough padding to be comfortable for walking on without any of the bounce that you might get with a thicker pad. The pad is made of a material that can be cut to size, which is great if you have a rounded edge or want to repurpose it for a different-sized rug in the future. Not sure the dual surface is much of a benefit, but it does take away the guess work on which side is up/down. Overall, I am happy with the pad and I would recommend it for any area rug.
