Q: Are these in addition to or in place of manufacture warranty?

  • A: Hello, SquareTrade sells extended protection to cover above and beyond what your manufacturer covers. Since SquareTrade is an extended warranty, any existing warranty from a seller or manufacturer does take precedent over the SquareTrade warranty. For normal mechanical and electronic failures, our coverage begins after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. Most items are covered up to one year by the manufacturer. Regards, Ali

Decided to purchase extra protection on a kitchen appliance that I had recently purchased, even though I thought the $8.00 was a bit much for only 2 yrs. When I received my protection plan via email, there's so many pages and very hard to understand! If only AllState made the plan easier to read and follow along...

Very disappointed. I bought this in advance and when i went to pick up they said they were sold out. What’s the point of buying in advance if they don’t hold the item for you when you place It. Now they won’t give me a refund for the “coverage” i bought and i didn’t even get the item i bought coverage for. Please fix this.

What’s the point of buying this protection if the customer service doesn’t even understand how to hand returns of broken products within the protection plan period!?! Target is losing my business for non-consumables. The quality of the products on their shelves sucks and their protection plans aren’t honored.

This insurance is first rate if you play your cards right. As soon as you purchase your product (or prior) search their database to make sure that the manufacturer of your product is listed there so you can avoid the hassle of being told that your insurance is invalid in the future. Then register your policy along with your receipt immediately so it is saved with your insurance policy holder. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT expect Target to keep track of your receipts for you, just like receipts go missing in your care they can be misplaced or deleted online as well so you are going to want to make sure your receipt reaches the insurer before there's no longer a proof of your purchase. They will take care of everything so long as your follow these steps.

We went to file a claim and the manufacturer of the item we purchased isn’t on their list of manufactures. So we basically gave money to company to send us a warranty that we can’t use. If you’re going to purchase something that may need a warranty in the future just buy directly from the manufacturer and pay for the extended warranty.
