Sturdy, Nice-Looking, but...

We do like this and it is extremely sturdy. Our ten-year-old put it together and did not have any problems. (I have to admit, he is not your average ten-year old when it comes to things like that.) I am not leery about using the steps at all. There is one thing I do not care for though. When the steps are folded, the bottom part of those stick out and have rubber caps which do not look very attractive at all. This is the side that needs to face outwards so it is rather unsightly. I do believe that with some changes, this problem could be remedied.

Good step stool, bad instructions

I thought this would come put together. Wrong! I would say first that the instructions are terrible! They give no words just pictures and do not say which thing to do first on any of them. It says at the top that you will need 2 people to assemble, but if you have put things like this together before, 1 person can do it. After trial and error putting pieces on and then taking them off because either they needed to be switched. Then after I had it assembled and put the little screw covers on they all fell off. I resorted to gluing them in, so I hope all of the screws never need to be tightened. I can not stress how bad the instructions are!! I hope the company fixes that.

My bed is way too high. This stool is perfect, one step wasn't enough for me so this works perfect. Very sturdy. And I use the top for setting things on. Great value. Holds over 200 lb. So my hubby could use this too in other places in the house.

Good quality hardwood, predrilled, heavy bolts, reinforcing supports make this sturdy and the design and finish make it a perfect addition to my kitchen. Quick and safe access to my top shelves and the lower steps fold in to save space! Love it!!!

It was what I needed. Putting it together took me a bit of time. There are no written instructions and you need to figure out which screws go where. Diagrams only. It's a sturdy stool. Counter height not bar height. I can now reach upper shelves in my kitchen without standing on a chair. :)

I was debating on canceling once saw the reviews on how tough assembly was but to our surprise the stool was fully assembled when we opened it! Not sure if this is their response to those cries but the stool looks great and is perfect for our needs.

I bought this Nov 2016 for myself. Although the description stated assembly required, mine came completely assembled. It was exactly what I needed in my kitchen to be able to reach the high cabinets and be used to sit and work at the counter. Although it is not completely slip-,proof, it isnt terrible. There is a latch that you twist to keep the risers locked when not using. When folded up, measurements are: 24 1/2"H, 13" D, 15 3/4"W. When the steps are down, it expands to 22" D. The steps are approximately 8" H each.

Buy only if you are an experienced carpenter!

The color is perfect for our kitchen, the steps are just the right height... BUT, we had to hire a carpenter to put this little beast together. The tools were missing, and the instructions were filled with errors. Lucky for us the carpenter had the right tools and was experienced enough with structures that he was able to use an array of bolts and nuts to get it together.

Problem with screws and screw hole buttons

Assembly was not simple. It took significant effort. It would have been appreciated if all pieces were pre-drilled to help make assembly much easier. I still would recommend this product, however be aware that assembly will be a significant challenge unless you have someone assisting you.

Boraam Step Stool Assembly is Not Easy

1 out of 5 stars
Thumbs up graphic, would recommend

The Boraam Step Stool is a neat piece of furniture. I like it. However, assembly is tough. Not an easy task for an average DIYer: 1. The "step tops" are attached to the "step sides" from the inside. There is less than 7-inches of space, no pilot holes in the step sides, and very little room to wield a screwdriver with any dexterity or torque. It would make a lot more sense to attached the step treads from the outside. 2. Pilot holes for attaching the chair legs to the stool top and stool stretchers are not deep enough or the screws provided are too long. I had to re-drill the pilot holes deeper to assemble the legs to the top and stretchers. Not before spending too much time using the original pilot holes and getting totally frustrated and angry (and using impolite language). A note in the assembly directions telling me to drill out the pilot holes to their proper depth would have made assembly a lot easier. 3. It seems to me a more elegant method might be devised for stopping the stool steps when folded up. Now the bottom part of the stool riser just bangs into the stool top to stop the steps. A nice piece of furniture that seems well made. However assembly can be quite frustrating. I'm not a novice when it comes to assembling furniture, I've assembled tables, bookcases, credenzas, and even a full sized desk. This step stool was the most frustrating.

Nice product, difficult assembly

Product looks like the pictures. A little smaller than I expected. The assembly instructions were not very good. There were some holes that were not pre drilled, making the assembly harder. I'm adding a picture of step one of the instructions. Step one took me close to an hour. Most of the hour was spent trying to decipher what the directions were.

Beautiful Stool with Horrible Instructions

3 out of 5 stars
Thumbs down graphic, would not recommend
AnKuAlGa - 10 years ago
This stool is very attractive and would function wonderfully, if you could get it built sometime this century. The instructions are completely WORTHLESS. Step one alone has 5 different parts labeled and way too much going on to make any sense. It is impossible to attach the two smaller steps to the sides and the instructions make absolutely NO SENSE when depicting how this should be done.

worst directions ever

This is the absolute worst unassembled piece of furniture we have ever experienced. Wish I had paid more attention to others reviews. As others have said, no pre-drilled screw holes. The ones that do exist don't fit the provided screws. The directions are ludicrous. The only good thing is the color. It is as pictured.
