Nice little stool - 8 months ago, Verified purchaser
I got this as more of an accent piece, not a functional stepstool, but I have used it as both. It is pretty sturdy for occasional hanging a picture, geting something off a top shelf, etc. Instructions for assembly are a little vague, but not hard to put together.
Love the look and feel!

I think this stool is great! It was simple to build except for the wooden knobs at the end but my husband just hammered them in and it was all good 👍🏻

I previously gave this 1 star because of missing parts. They sent me a whole new one and I love it so far. Looks great. Only problem I had was, for me, it was hard to screw some of screws in, but I am sure a stronger person could do it with ease.
Parts missing.

Should have listened to the only review, and the 1 star rating. The answer I got ws=as sorry we no longer send replacement parts. Did get a fed X label but I had already tossed the box because I really liked it when it came. It is also very heavy for me tp pack up if I buy a box and packaging. tried to contact manufacturer and I have still not gotten a response.

Beautiful stool for my kitchen. Assembly was kind of a pain, you definitely need better tools than what's provided.
Beautiful!

Took a little while to assemble as I'm not a young woman anymore, but......once together, it is a beautiful and very sturdy stool. The time to assemble was well worth it as the method of assembling assured it would be strong and last. Plus, it is worth the time and cost.

Overall I'm pleased with this stool. The 24" height is rare for a non-ladder type stool and it's much nicer than any of the other options I found. I think it's quite stable considering its small footprint-to-height ratio. And I feel confident in it's structure when standing on it, despite being significantly over the listed max weight of 200lb. (It's actually for my son to use, not me.) The pre-assembled pieces are well-made and the finish is good quality. There was some noticeable sawblade splintering on the ends of the round rung of the step...ironically the ends of the round hinge-piece, which are completely hidden once assembled, were cut perfectly with no splintering. It's not complicated to assemble, although I'd agree that the instructions could have been more detailed. But I really liked that it showed how to identify the pieces without using those annoying letter stickers that never seem to come off cleanly. All the pilot holes lined up just fine for me. Like another reviewer, I left all the screws a little loose until I had the slats lined up, but I don't think it was really necessary. Perhaps they've improved things since the reviewer who had trouble with that. My biggest complaint/suggestion is that the pilot holes are too small. As mentioned by others, turning the screws required much more effort than should have been necessary. Although the stool is solid wood (a welcome change from most affordable DIY furniture), if it's really hardwood it's the softest hardwood I've ever encountered. Regardless of whether this stool is technically hardwood or not, it's too soft to have such small pilot holes. So when I put in the first screw to attach the slats, I didn't even notice when the screw bottomed out...I kept turning it until it punched through the other side. Fortunately I noticed quickly enough to stop before it caused much damage to the top of the step. Unfortunately, the head of the screw had become embedded in the leg support and was a royal pain to back it out again. Once I knew to watch out for that, I paid closer attention and was able to avoid it happening again. The same thing might not happen to anyone else, but if Winsome would use larger pilot holes, it would prevent the issue entirely and also make assembly easier for everyone at the same time.

This was the cheapest solid wood multi-step stool that I could find and it was definitely worth the price. I had no issues with assembling it on my own, I just kept all the screws a little loose so I could adjust the slats as I went. Everything fit eventually. The wood itself is pretty lightweight, but sturdy enough to support me. I didn't really care for the finish (it looks like cheap laminate despite being solid wood), so I ended up stripping and refinishing it..

Classy Step Stool

Doing a search for "pretty step stools" produced some odd results, but I did come across this one. I was looking for something to use in our walk-in closet with high ceilings - and high shelves. I'm using it on carpet, and it sometimes feels slightly unstable, but I think that's more of a flooring issue. It is also a good height for reaching tall shelves. The step stool looks very nice and was relatively easy to put together. The instructions could have been more detailed and/or descriptive, but if you have experience with build-it-yourself furniture, you should be able to figure it out. I'm much happier with this than I would have been with a utility step stool.
Looks cheap.

Excited as I was for this item, I am not at all impressed with it overall. The slats are different sizes giving it an off kilter look. Also, the pre-drilled holes were slightly off making it difficult to assemble. I have put together many pieces of furniture in the past 10 or so years, this was of the lowest quality I have seen. The wood was cracked in several places and the finish is uneven and sloppy. I would not recommend.
Stool Is Slip'nSlip On Hardwood & Tile - Hard to Assemble

A construction worker friend had to assembe this step stool for me. I tried to assemble it but it needed a very strong arm to put in the screws. . ALSO: The step stool slips and slids on hardwood and tile which most people have in their homes today. I bought it to help me get into my high bed. I also had to buy a rubber mat to put under the stool so it would not slip'slid on the hardwood floors in my bedroom. BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART! But the stool is good looking.

I purchased this stool to use to get up on a tall bed. It works great. It is very sturdy, and the bottom step rotates up and stores under the top step to take up less space if desired. It did not take very long to put together, however, as stated in the other reviews, it took a little more effort because the pre-drilled holes did not line up well. This was not a big ordeal. It is a great and affordable stool. I really shopped around, and this was the best option I found.

assembled pretty easily (by my husband), sturdy, (not collapsible, but wasn't expecting that as the other reviewer was), fits under the kitchen table, nice finish. could use some felt on the bottom to protect wood floors. used as a seat at the table and for reaching upper cabinets. overall good buy.
