A: Hi - that's hard to say, not knowing the size and shape of your room space. This design will add general overall lighting to a room space, with light also being directed down to sofa areas and seating arrangements. A: Hi - yes, you can use this design with a line cord dimmer. The on-off switch in on the cord, so you would just plug into the dimmer cord and then use that to control the lamp.

Q: the directions are atrocious. how do the poles screw together? there's an Allen wrench which tried to tighten the screws & now they fell into the pole itself. what are the 2 balls for?

Q: How wide is the arc? (from pole to center of bulb)

A: Hi - from the center of the pole to the outside edge of the shade is 50". The shade is shade is 15" wide. The bulb is in the center of the shade, so that puts the pole to center of bulb measurement at 57.5".

The lamp is nice but there is no diffuser on the bottom of the shade. When you are sitting on the couch, the bare light bulb shines in your eyes.

Hi - that is correct, the shade is open at the bottom. If you are using a clear glass bulb we'd suggest using a frosted glass bulb instead. You can also try a slightly lower wattage bulb to help cut doen the brightness. Try those suggestions and see how they work for you. Thank you for the comments.

Have never had an arched light before and was curious how it would fit in where extra light was needed, not by straight overhead lighting so I like height and corner in which extra lighting was needed. My only wish was to get a lamp shad that was a little more brown like my lampshades on the table lamps.

Like that the base is offset so you can put it tight against a wall and even in a corner keeping your furniture able to hug the wall. Provides nice lighting with a dimmer. Looks great. I have one for myself and bought this as a gift for my daughter

Missing a screw and the holes do not align for the poles to be screwed on. I like the lamp overall and have it sitting without the screws in place.. The bulb and shade hang by the cord which I am not crazy about.

Great purchase! At first I was confused by the top piece having so much wire exposed. The trick is pulling the cord at the base to tighten throughout the structure. It’s bright and is the perfect height for my space!

Hi - this design does have the shade suspended from the arc arm by a short length of hang cord, as you can see in the product photos. If this is what you are referring to, it is part of the modern look of the design. If you are seeing actual wiring then you have not got the lamp put together properly. The lamp itself is very nice. The quality looks to be good and it was easy to assemble. Unfortunately, I did return it though because it was too big for my space.

nice lamp, I purchased the bronze. Very easy to assemble and took about 5 minutes. I did also purchase the suggested bulb and glad I did because it was opaque and looks good with the lamp.
