This shoe rack was very easy to assemble thanks to the clear instructions. Each shelf holds about 3 large pairs of shoes for ladies (boots, heels, etc), and at least two large pairs of men's shoes, or about 4 pairs of Flats. The top shelf is real wood and the frame is metal. The shoe rack feels sturdy enough, with enough space to hold a purse or lunch bag while heading our the door. This also looks a lot like the shoe rack from Yamazaki home, at half the price.
