Box arrived with noticeable damage. Immediately took pictures of damage to the box. Verified all parts wer present and inspected them for damage. The very top piece was dented on the front edge and cracked in two places on the same side the box showed damage. Contacted customer service and was informed that the replacement piece would be sent out under warranty. When moving the box or assembled furniture of this size please have someone else help you. You might also need them for a few steps of assembly. Take your time and double check your parts. Everything should fit together easily without force. If you are assembling a darker color on a hard surface, consider assembling on a rug or flatten out the cardboard box it was shipped in to prevent noticeable damage. It's a good solid piece with plenty of storage and displaying options.

We have had very satisfactory experiences with Sauder Furniture in the past and this bookcase is no exception. Assembly was relatively easy and straightforward. In spite of comments from others who purchased the same bookcase, all holes aligned very well and the resulting product seems very solid and stable. The only real negative is its weight; it is heavy but that is to be expected with that type of wood product.
Looks beautiful. Challenging to build.

This shelf looks beautiful but it was exhausting to build. The directions were fair but not great but it was just very time consuming.

The holes were pre-drilled incorrectly in my item where the vertical sides attach to the top. We had to drill additional holes which would have been a big problem if I hadn't had my dad to help me. I don't own a drill nor do I know how to drill. Also, we had to notch out the bottom skirt around the middle vertical upright to make it attach smoothly. These two issues should not have been issues in the first place. I'd only recommend if you have wood skills.

We really like the look of this bookcase and it makes the room look so much tidier than the one we had before. My 13 year old son and I were able to assemble it in less than 2 hours.

Looks good and is exactly what I needed for my home office. I did have a few problems with the cam dowels not lining up when assembling, and I'm not a big fan of the cardboard backing.
Great product for the price!

Needed another flat surface for Knick knacks! One little boo boo when we unboxed it. Not worth sending back. Will repair it ourselves. Otherwise love it!

Bought this shelf cubbie unit to replace two upright shelf unit, both of which were very unstable. My sauder unit is solid and secure and has the storage space of my two upright units plus it looks so much better. Took me about 3 hours to assemble myself, but I took my time. The key, top shelf was damaged in transit and a 5 minute call to sauder and two days later I had the replacement shelf and finished up. Amazing customer service!

I am using this as a classroom student station. Assembly by myself took me around 2.5 hours, the build of this shelf is sturdy and I am confident it's going to outlast any and all other cubby shelves on the market!

We have owned these bookshelves for 10 years. We were a military family that moved often and the bookshelves are still in great condition! The "salt oak" color has changed over 10 years (slightly darker) but that is only an issue if you are trying to match furniture from 10 years ago. The backing is more of a panel than an actual piece of wood. You could leave it off to see through, if you'd like. Assembly is labeled well and takes about 30 minutes. Moderately easy to assemble. I highly recommend the Sauder brand of furniture!

Beautiful piece of furniture with a lot of storage space. The only thing I dislike is how flimsy it is.
