5 Shelf Bookcase - Room Essentials™

The 3 shelf version is fine but the tall, 5 shelf version doesn't stand straight. The middle seam cams never see to lock in right and the whole unit shifts noticeably when any weight is added or taken away. I have three of these units and the top and bottom sections have gaps that suggest this is just the way they're made. Really dangerous for households with pets, kids, or elderly individuals, even when using wall anchor.

The instructions suck and none of the pieces are labeled good luck I’m probably just throwing it away

Great item. Very sturdy. It worked great for the viral closet.

I got this for my kids books, and it worked for a short time period ( a year or so) . You’re not able to fill the shelves with books without the weight jeopardizing the stability of actual bookshelf. We moved the bookshelf and it completely broke apart, starting with the back piece; which was put back on a few times. So if you need something short term, it’s worth it for the price. Long term? It won’t last.

It's very sturdy and holds a lot. I think the quality is great for the price. No damage on the two I bought and all the holes line up perfectly. I will purchase a third. It's a little tedious adding the back but I like that included is a little tool to hold the nails while hammering. I found the instructions easy to read and as long as you pay attention to the little details, it's pretty easy to put together. Should be a two person job but I managed on my own.

I've put together a couple of the smaller bookcases and those were a breeze compared to this one. Firstly, none of the pieces are labeled, so you are left to identify them visually. Secondly, several of the pieces arrived badly chipped. And lastly, I had such a difficult time lining up the holes because they weren't cut correctly. Mine looks awful put together because as I had to manually line up holes the delicate (cheap) particle board separated from the paint and now I have unsightly gaps in the screw holes. For $40 I don't expect a top-of-the-line piece of furniture, but I also don't expect something that needs to be repaired straight out of the box. I do not recommend this bookshelf and if you plan to put it together by yourself, perhaps rethink that decision.

Why would anybody ever not label the parts on a DIY assembly product? The first step in the manual says to plug wood dowels into boards marked "C" and "D". But none of the boards are marked. So I have to visually identify them myself. Literally the first step, I find matching boards manually and put the dowels in. And then I notice two other almost identical boards 59 the ones I just used, except for two small holes on one side. So I put them in the wrong boards. Now I have to get pliers to pull the dowels out. But they don't come out and instead rip apart. So now I have a mess. No extra parts and just a bunch of unmarked pieces. No way to recover and just a bunch of junk that I now can't use. Luckily it was only $40 because I threw the whole thing away. But I don't get back a waste of an afternoon. Seriously, what is wrong with these people that they can't do something so simple as label the parts so we can follow along with the instructions? It's been a long time since I've had a product make me as angry as this one did.

It’s great and pretty easy to put together. Only flaw is that the backboard was slightly uneven, leaving a small slit between two panels.

After hauling this extremely heavy box upstairs and beginning to assemble, the dowel holes are EXTREMELY off!

the material is already peeling off on the inside when I opened the box. This bookshelf is so cheaply made. It’s kinda sad how cheaply made it is. I would have never paid $40 if I knew how horribly made it was. Also, the pieces are not labeled and the directions are stupid. If you do get this just look up a YouTube video. It will be faster. If I knew how many imperfections this had & If I didn’t already have this up and had time to take it apart and put it in the box I would take it back 1000%.

Easy to put together I needed a bookshelf and this does the job. It fits in a small space and holds lots of book. For only $40 this is a steal.
