The rod is heavy weight and sturdy. It's not the type of tension rod that you twist then squeeze into place. You have to extend it to the desired length then twist to secure in place (see instructions) I needed another person to hold one side while I tightened the other. I would have given it 5 stars but it is not a shiny chrome finish it's more of a grey color.

This is not like the tension rod that you twist to get the size you want, then squeeze it in place. You put it in place and slide it to the desired length. Then you twist the narrow part of the rod till it is snug in place. I had to have my daughter hold one side while I slid the rod to size and tightened it. It is a little heavy so it is quite sturdy with the curtain on. It's supposed to be chrome but it is more of a dull grey color. The shower curtain hooks slide easily and stay on the rod. I'm happy with it but if you want the shiny, silver chrome perhaps you should skip it.

So far the Threshold curtain rod has worked well, but every time I look at it, I worry that it will come crashing down! Four stars for looking flimsy and making me paranoid when I shower.

Permanent installation is tricky and not user friendly. Taking off the screw in pieces is very hard and I broke both pieces. One trying to take it off the rod, the other trying to put the rod back on it. I ended up drilling holes through the metal and into the walls. I got it on sale so I’m not mad about it but a forewarning.

This is the worst shower curtain rod I've ever used. There is no tension and I wasn't even able to get to work. I struggled for 20 minutes to get it to stay, then it fell, and it BROKE when it hit the bathtub. Unbelievably flimsy, I can't believe they even put this thing on the shelves.

Should your Rod give any more trouble staying up, there may be a defect with the cam nut mechanism that locks your rod into place. I would not purchase this product. I bought two and neither lasted a year. They both fell down losing tension and then could not be adjusted.

What better for a brand new tub than some semi permanent black scratches from this garbage quality tension rod. After following the instructions to a tee, this would not stay on the shower. It repeatedly falls and will ruin your tub.

I'm not putting much weight on rod, so hopefully there won't be any falling issues. I shouldn't have any rust issues either. Time will tell. But for now, it's perfect!

I'm not sure why so many reviews say this falls down. I was prepared to screw this in but I started with the tension method and so far (2 weeks later) it hasn't budged. It was a good price and I think the black looks great!
