Q: is this sunscreen environmentally friendly for marine sanctuaries?

submitted by Rosie - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi Rosie, yes, All Good only uses a mineral-based active ingredient (non-nano Zinc Oxide) plus other plant-based ingredients so we are 100% reef and human safe. We stay away from nasty chemicals that have been proven to harm marine sanctuaries like Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, Avobenzone, etc. Learn more about environmentally safe (and human safe!) ingredients at www.ReefFriendly.org.

Q: Does this leave a white cast on darker skin tones?

submitted by Citlalli Rocha - 5 years ago
  • A: Hi Citlalli, since our active ingredient is non-nano Zinc Oxide, there will be a white cast when you spray the formula on your skin. However, we include other ingredients like Jojoba oil, buriti oil, rose hip oil and olive oil so that the spray will rub in better. Pro tip... moisturize your skin *before* applying, and it will rub in more easily :) Hope this helps! -All Good Team

Yes it’s white but I have a whole leg tattoo and very sensitive skin. I do not get burnt at all with this and don’t break out from allergic reaction.

Used up a different brand on a few areas, and used this on a few areas- everything with this one got burned! Shared with my BF and he had the same experience. Exchanged it for the Sun Bum and Banana Boat mineral sunscreens, and they both worked great.

This is the ONLY sunscreen I’ve ever found that doesn’t burn my eyes! Yes, it’s white because of the zinc, big deal! So happy with this I’ll easily pay the higher price tag for healthy sunscreen!

Works but it’s hard to blend in the white

Bela - 4 years ago, Verified purchaser
It definitely works. I also have the cream version of this for my face. The spray version comes out in white dots, hard to blend in, makes your hands feel dry. I would want to mix it with a slightly oily sunscreen as well bc I know this works it’s just a pain for get it blended. It dries quickly which makes it more difficult. When it dries it shows up white which is also a bit frustrating since I’m mexican and tan. I like that it’s safe from carcinogens, works, and is reef safe. I would recommend this but definitely give ppl a heads up.

I bought this sunscreen before heading out to a day on the lake, not our normal trusted kind but this was all I could find in the store. I knew it was a mineral sunscreen, so I was prepared for the white cast it left. It got everywhere (clothes, shoes, etc.) and did not come off. It looked like I spray painted everything and everyone white. I could have dealt with that if it had kept us from getting burned, but it didn't. At all. My whole family is very fair-skinned (blue eyes, light hair, freckles) so we are very diligent with sunscreen; we reapplied several times and it did absolutely nothing. We all got burned. I ended up so badly sunburned I had chills all night. Would give it zero stars if possible.

Inadvertent Sunscreen Test! (this stuff is the best)

Jooge - 6 years ago
INADVERTENT TEST: The first time I used this spray, I had someone else spray my back as we put our boat into the water. I was driving the boat and forgot to spray my chest and the front part of my shoulders. Result after a few hours on the lake? My chest was fried and my back was perfectly protected. Some people have complained about seeing the white dots from spray. It actually sprays like other sunscreen, but it is zinc based (which is why it works so great), so it is white and not clear-sticky. Clear sunscreen actually over sprays as well, you just don't see it. If you don't want the over spray, put it in your hand first and then rub into skin, or buy the same brand's sunscreen butter. Even if you use the spray, you do need to rub it in, but it is worth it. This is great sunscreen, and I love the eco friendly benefit. I'm sticking with this sunscreen - it is ALL GOOD!

I thought this was going to be great, but I put it on my kids multiple times throughout the day, and they both still got sunburned. The zinc sprays all over the place and I had to wipe down the floor of the hotel room. It was so bad that I threw it away.

Great product also found in Doctor's office

I purchased this at a skin doctor's office, googled it and was surprised to find it at Target at a slightly lower price and see it is also available in a tube as I was wondering how to deal with this on vacation. I digress. I use this daily on my face and hands and it may appear shiny for a few seconds but quickly changes into a matt finish without leaving your face looking totally white. I have used Suntegrity in the past which is great if you are wearing a tinted moisturizer over it but leaves your face too white if using it on its own. This is now my go to product and definitely worth a try. A little goes a long way so if you are just using it on your face in winter give a small spray as it is nice and thick. The doctors office uses mostly SkinMedica which is a high end line. Their aesthetician is amazing so I am confident that this is a good product.

Highly rated on ewg.org for safe ingredients. I have tried many brands of physical blocks (safer than chemical blocks), this one rubs in much better than most. You will still get a bit of white but not bad/noticeable, goes on pretty smoothly. We use this just for arm's and legs, the same brand but lotion for the face and neck. Used for about 3 months now and would highly recommend for ease of application and for children with skin sensitivities. My 2 year old DID NOT have bad skin reactions as he has with many other organic brands. Two notes: one: don't spray ANY sunscreen in a matter that allows it to be inhaled, it sticks to your lung cells - that is super bad. Two: You may want to spray while standing on grass, as it will temporarily stain your concrete/blacktop. Other user indicated it stained shoes...true, it coated shoes of ours too. We remedied by spraying before putting on shoes or spraying in our hands and wiping on.

Not a great sunscreen

moongirl4 - 7 years ago, Verified purchaser
I appreciate that this sunscreen is reef-friendly, however, it is not a great sunscreen. First, it sprays out like spray paint - tiny white particles all over the place. It has coated both my bike shoes and run shoes and it's not super easy to wipe off. Once it's on my body, I find it very sticky and hard to rub in, leaving white streaks all over and causing me to question how good the coverage is. I hope I can find another sunscreen that's good for the environment, but also functions well and protects me from the sun.

EVERYONE should be more sensitive to harming marine life and so using a sunscreen that is "reef friendly" is the best approach
