Cheap, flimsy and no water circulation within ladder so algae grows like crazy.

This came with only 2 screws and should have came with at least 10. So if you order this make sure to buy more screws. Also we have a 27 foot round above ground pool with a metal 3 inch thick deck and our pool is 52” high and this ladder wasn’t long enough.. we had to drill holes for the metal rails to go down into the decking

We recently bought two of these to replace our old bulky pool steps. These were exactly what we needed and freed up a lot of room in the pool. We can also enter/exit from both sides of the pool for less money that a bulky set of traditional above groud pool steps.

I'm torn with how to rate this ladder. First of all, the price can't be beat. The other comparable ladder in the $50-60 price range comes with many different parts that eventually rust out. This ladder is mostly made of resin. The handrails are aluminum. Should weather well. Very easy to put together, but installation is tricky. My biggest complaint is that the description does not fully explain that for this ladder to function properly, your deck needs to be probably around (at minimum) 52" tall. My deck is far below this, around 45" for a 48" pool, and we had to rig up a temporary system to make it work (we made wooden stilts to attach to the flanges). Also, a few more words on the flange system: you will need to be able to drill holes into your deck, screw the flanges onto the deck around the holes (screws are not included), and then slip the handles of the ladder into the flanges. The bottom bar that swivels according to your pool's slope really doesn't function that well, and the handles would move and slip in the flanges if your pool doesn't have level ground. All in all it is an inexpensive ladder that seems to be of decent quality. With better descriptions and instructions I believe this could be a 5/5. Current description says will work up to a 54" pool without any explanation on how it needs to be attached. I don't recommend it for 48" pools.
