About the Book
"First published in the U.K. by Two Roads in 2017"--Title page verso in 2017.Book Synopsis
The uplifting true story of an extreme athlete, a stray dog, and how they found each other. "Heroic and heartwarming" (Forbes), this unbelievable adventure will make readers laugh, gasp, cry, and see rescue dogs with a whole new perspective. NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE STARRING MARK WAHLBERG--STREAMING ON STARZ When you're racing 435 miles through the jungles and mountains of South America, the last thing you need is a stray dog tagging along. But that's exactly what happened to Mikael Lindnord, captain of a Swedish adventure racing team, when he threw a scruffy but dignified mongrel a meatball one afternoon. When the team left the next day, the dog followed. Try as they might, they couldn't lose him--and soon Mikael realized that he didn't want to. Crossing rivers, battling illness and injury, and struggling through some of the toughest terrain on the planet, the team and the dog walked, kayaked, cycled, and climbed together toward the finish line, where Mikael decided he would save the dog, now named Arthur, and bring him back to his family in Sweden, whatever it took. Illustrated with candid photographs, Arthur provides a testament to the amazing bond between dogs and people.
Review Quotes
"A miraculous tale"
--Washington Post "An incredible journey"
--Daily Telegraph "Like all great tales, this one had an intriguing start: a small good deed with enormous consequences for the dog and his rescuers, the basis for a heroic and heartwarming story."
--Forbes "Swedish adventure racer Lindnord shares the moving story of how a stray dog changed the course of a race through South America, and also changed Lindnord's life. ... The story of the race will appeal to readers interested in endurance, while the story about the powerful connection that can develop between people and dogs will find a broader readership among dog lovers."
--Publishers Weekly "More Kleenex needed! This is the tale of a Swedish adventure racing team who found (very unexpectedly) a stray dog ... This incredible story follows the dog's determination to stick with the humans he met through raging rivers, illness, injury and some of the most difficult terrain on the planet. Ideal for people who love adventure and dog stories."
--PAWSH Magazine "He is only one dog, but Arthur has proven what it means to survive and not ever give up. He is the elite athlete of this story, and deserves every possible accolade."
--Books for Animal Lovers
