Great budget router with device identification. Specifications say it can handle over sixty devices, and I currently have fifty-ish connected which it handles fantastically. I cannot comment on longevity, as I’ve only had it a few weeks.

I just bought this because I wanted to upgrade my system. My 11 year old ASUS was working fine before the replacement, but lacked some security I wanted. I still use the old one outside on my patio using Aimesh. So my backyard has plenty of connectivity for outdoor use if needed.

I bought this for the purpose of connecting a file system to my network as network attached storage. It is a pair of external drives configured as raid 1 drives. The USB port on my cable system provider is non functional. I attempted to set up the ASUS router connecting it directly to my desktop computer and using the same network name. I could log into the ASUS router fine. I then disconnected my ethernet switch from the cable router and connected it to the ASUS router where it was identified as a gateway but nothing beyond it was recognized. I then connected my NAS to the USB port and it was not recognized at all. Either I am not understanding the instructions (which I downloaded) or this will not provide what I need.

Very small footprint, unlike the new Netgear routers make it easy to fit on a very small shelf. Comes with Trend Micro AI protection software which is a very good product. Been using Trend Micro anti virus for years on my computers. Gives you ability to split into 2 separate networks which is very good for isolating older devices. Make sure to log into your modem on a computer with a web browser for full setup and avoid the app, omits critical features. My only complaint is loading a SSL cert to secure your log in page could be easier.

Relatively easy to set up. Only issue was with smart devices that work on 2.4gh network. It'ls nice that this router will auto switch between speeds. I can let my phone and tablet run on 5gh and still talk to smart devices on 2.4gh.
Perfect for my needs.

I was in need to replace my 10+ year old Linksys router that could no longer keep up with today's high internet speeds. Enter the Asus, which completely erased my concerns about a complicated setup in the first few minutes. Just plug it in where my old router use to me, install and run the Asus easy setup app, and it couldn't have been more easy. Now we're flying at blazing fast speeds, and the app has some great tools to control which devices are connected, restrict access to some if needed (like if I want to keep my kids from screaming at video games all in the wee hours of the night... I can set the timer to cut off access at a certain time), it even looked at the devices I had plugged into the LAN ports and recognized that one of the cables was old and should be replaced with a modern Cat5 cable to achieve better speeds. Genius device!
Doesn't Work For More than 1 year and a half.

I've had it for a short time and it no longer works. It was perfect for a while but now it just trash.
1 reply from CLM team - 4 months ago
Dear Gina5280, We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, and are built to last. The router not working after a year and a half of usage is a random problem. Typically, by simply doing a power cycle to both your ISP's modem and the router will resolve the issue. Additionally, check if your ISP's credentials still maches the router's settings. Furthermore, please update the firmware if it was outdated. The most current firmware version is posted at: https://www.asus.com/us/networking-iot-servers/wifi-routers/asus-wifi-routers/rt-ax3000/helpdesk_bios?model2Name=RT-AX3000. After a successful firmware update, check if the router's settings still matches your ISP's credentials. If these steps were performed to no avail, we recommend you send the product in for service to determine if this is a hardware issue so this may be resolved immediately. An RMA number is required to send it in for service. For RMA details, please go to: https://www.asus.com/us/support/article/818/. If you need more information or further assistance with the warranty for the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. Or you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent from the link: https://www.asus.com/us/support/article/1135/. My wireless & wired speeds are both slow? I have a case into support, waiting for a response.
1 reply from CLM team - 4 months ago
Dear Back Door Man, We do understand your disappointment with the router and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing weak signal strength. Typically, the maximum coverage of this router is up to 7800 sq. ft. To resolve the weak signal, , check if the router is within 30 feet to the ISP's modem, if not wired with a network cable, and ISP's internet service or connection is working properly or stable. Furthermore, place the router in the center of the area you want to cover, avoid placing the router near metal objects, electronic devices or direct sunlight, position the router on a flat, hard surface and halfway between the floor and ceiling. Additionally, dense building materials, such as gypsum, concrete walls and planks can affect Wi-Fi signal penetration. Also, we recommend updating the router firmware if it is running with an older version. Firmware is available for download at: https://www.asus.com/us/networking-iot-servers/wifi-routers/asus-wifi-routers/rt-ax3000/helpdesk_bios?model2Name=RT-AX3000. Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at cl-rodel@asus.com and I would be more than happy to help. I waited a month before submitting this review. I have not had any issues with the router since installing. The set up on the app was not easy peasy, and I made a mistake that resulting in my having to uninstall then reinstalling the app with help from a CS tech. And getting to one was crazy- I had to call the Business users line to get a live person who could help. Again, the product works well and I'm now getting the speed I pay for. The customer relation experience left something to be desired tho. Fingers crossed I don't need to call again anytime soon.
Sleek looking, but under performs.

At first run the router performed as I expected. Within a week I began to experience connection issues where I was kicked off, had steaming lags, and certain devices losing communication. Before, I had a provider issued router I was renting and never experienced any issues close to what this router is giving me. So far, I’m underwhelmed and having buyers remorse.
