I own several pro condenser mics. Some of them in the high price range. To record male vocals and acoustic guitars that fit in the mix I prefer the AT 2020. Its delicat cut in the bass frequencies and its nice shimmering air in the high frequencies just fits. You don't have to battle much with EQing. Most of the work is done if you got a well done recording. Sure, sound is a matter of personal taste. I like the clear, naturally and present style of this mic. And when I use the description "present" I don't mean harsh. In my opinion it sounds airy, silky and powerful.

My Microphone is stuck in the mount. Can't twist it at all. Poorly made. Shouldn't be a problem but it is.

Hello, I cut voice tracks at home for industrial videos, films and radio spots. My past go to mic was a NADY ribbon but after auditioning several condensers including CAD, Rode, AKG and a newer APEX ribbon, I thought I'd give the AT 2020 a try. My radio network client said use this from now on. I now have 2 and will keep the APEX ribbon because it look retro and cool, and my Shure SM57's for outside work.
No matter what you can afford, you should ow this mic!

As a voice over and spot radio announcer of 48 years, I have used a lot of mics. I have been a fan of ribbons and own several but those lack a sparkle and punch. After many condensers from AKG Perception models an inexpensive CAD and Rode NT1-A, this seems to be the best so far. Plus is about $100! If I could afford a Neumann U-87, I would likely use it, but this is a very close second in sound. Really!

I was done with headset mic setups so went in search for a good quality Condenser Microphone that would meet my Gaming, Streaming and Work Teleconferencing needs. After a lot of research and comparing the AT2020 with mics from Yeti and Razer I was confident in choosing the AT2020. The quality is better than I expected, I often get a sound check from coworkers and the response is always one of disbelief that I am using a Condenser mic on a boom over my monitor - the sound is crystal clear and with no interference or noise. If you go with the non USB model,, make sure you match the XLR cables and phantom power source / pre-mixer quality with the quality of this microphone and you will not be disappointed.
The mic doesn't work on a Mac.

I can't seem to get a decent level with this mic. I use a Mac, and it could be the computer's issue, as I've heard the same from other Mac users. Regardless, the mic is useless to me, whatever the cause of this issue.

I use this mic in my home studio recording setup and the clarity and bass response are remarkable for something in this price range . I have used this for vocals and record acoustic guitars . It is so easy to get a good clean signal within minutes guess you could almost call this plug and play with a few small adjustments on gain structure your set to record .I highly recommend this mic for any recording studio.

The Audio Technica 2020 is great for home studios. You can buy better, but these wont let you down. The 2020 looks great. I'm not a professional singer, so I can't give the audio quality a perfect score. Others can comment on the small nuances that separate this mic based on audio quality. To me its great. But for everything else; the 2020 is like an ox. It's heavy duty and made to last. It can handle ANY audio source. It's got a heavy solid feel. In my research before purchasing this microphone, I couldn't find one review complaining about the quality or reliability of the 2020. Just the opposite, the 2020 is more like a major department store; it may not be the most convenient choice, but when you want to make sure you get what you want the first time, this is the mic to reach for. I have personally verified that this works with a Sax (bari and alto#, guitar amps #8 and 12), acoustic guitars, and vocals. I currently have it setup in my sound booth and havent found a reason to change it out. I actually may buy a second one just so I dont have to take it down. The only down side is that its solid construction makes it a bit heavy, so make sure you have a good mic stand or use a weight at the bottom of your stand.

The Audio Technica AT2020 is my very first foray into the wonderful world of cardoid condenser microphones. As an amateur radio operator, or a ham radio op, I must say this microphone is superb in every way. My reason for giving Ease of Use a "good" rating is like I said, this my very first cardoid condenser mic, I didn't know anything about phantom power supplies or the like. Now that I do know, and have this as my main microphone for my radio station AI4HO, Alpha India Four Hotel Oscar. I have and still receive unsolicited great audio, or, you sound great, what mic are you using. I tell them an Audio Technica AT2020..doesn't everybody use this mic? If you don't know anything about cardoid condenser microphones and are looking for a really, really great inexpensive microphone, then the AT2020 should be first on your list. While this is a great mic for studio both pro and home studio work, this mic also works well with instruments such as the drum, guitars both electric and non electric, tambourines too work well with this mic. Or, if you are a ham radio op like me and want something different in your arsenal of mics, this is it, look no further. The AT2020 by Audio Technica is a microphone for any and all, pro and amateur alike will enjoy the responsiveness and the rugged durability of this microphone. Thank you all for taking the time to read my review, and many thanks go to Audio Technica for building a superb mic in every way.

I am an audio enthusiast and a gamer, and I got this microphone because I stopped using headsets for gaming, and I started using audio-technica headphones, and I opted for a professional quality microphone, and the quality of this microphone is awesome without doubts. I paired this microphone with a high quality audio interface, and I can tell that this microphone works perfectly on VoIP( Voice over IP), Podcasting, Dialog and much more, A must-have professional microphone for any purpose where the performance and quality is a factor, and affordable for everyone. Best regards!

Low self-noise, nearly flat frequency response, good sensitivity, with a rugged and durable housing at a very affordable price. Definitely one of the best performer in its class and price range that I actually have two of them in my 100+ personal microphone arsenal.

I am the GM of a high school radio station and we have three 2020's and two 2021's. Kids can be tough on equipment but these mics keep sounding great day in and day out. I use them to record with, live talk on the air, and even use them on stage occasionally and they never let me down. Way to go AT!!!

I just got this microphone and boy was I suprised. The price was very reasonable and the quality of the mic is great. I use it mostly for vocals in my home studio and it is very warm and responsive. I am looking to use it for a long time.
