Description
Badger Basket's unique canopy sandbox is sure to become a favorite hangout for the neighborhood kids! It features two comfortable benches and a canopy top for shade. There's plenty of room for several kids to dig, build, and explore together. But wait, there's more! The benches fold flat to cover and protect the sand when play time is done! Hand grips make it easy to fold and unfold. Bottomless construction helps with drainage and allows you to adjust sand depth. Made with heat-treated, stained cedar wood and rust-resistant hardware. The hinges are stainless steel and the screws are zinc plated. Canopy top is made with 100% polyester fabric with a polyurethane (PU) coating to make it waterproof. All finishes are non-toxic. Sandbox measures 46.5 inches L x 46.5 inches W x 9.5 inches H (57 inches H to the top of the canopy). When the benches are unfolded for play, open sand area measures 31 inches x 44.75 inches (there is also sand under the benches). All measurements approximate. Additional measurements: Height of seat back: 7.5 inches High Depth of seat: 7.5 inches Deep Width of seats between the center and edge bars (two seats per bench): 14.5 inches Wide Height from ground to top of seat back with benches up: 16.5 inches. Interior length and width of the sandbox area: 44.75 inches L x 44.75 inches W. Do not install the sandbox on top of bricks, pavers, or concrete because this can interfere with drainage and damage the product. Each bench can support up to 200 pounds. Holds approximately 750 pounds of sand to fill it 6 inches deep (calculated assuming average of 100 lbs per cubic foot for dry sand and 4 sides x 46.5 inches L x 6 inches H equals 7.5 cuft). Q: Most of these types of boxes come with a mesh liner for the bottom, but I don't see that listed here. Does it come with a liner?

A: Thank you for your question. It seems like you are asking for a metric volume measurement rather than an imperial weight measurement. Here are the imperial measurements of the interior sand area that you would need to perform some calculations and determine what works best for you: Interior length and width of the sandbox area: 44.75 inches L x 44.75 inches W, and 9.5 inches H. We calculate about 11 cubic feet, which would be 0.3112 cubic meters, or 311.5 Liters, if you filled the sandbox to the top, but please check all the math and determine what you need to know to purchase the sand from your preferred supplier.

Cheap didn't even last a month before the top broke (the wood) then 2 months later the trap ripped. The base didn't last a year before it start rotting. Waste of money. It's a good concept but horribly made!

Box says it’s cedar wood but to our surprise, it’s pine that’s just stained. Deceiving. That’s what I get for ordering cheap stuff when my husband is a carpenter.

My kids love this sandbox! Gave it a 3 because of the canopy. It has freyed and will be wrecked soon and have only had 1 month. The ends being freyed weren’t stitched to protect it. I’ve tried to see about getting a replacement but all I have found is a new one will be sent. I don’t want a whole new one as we have sand in it already.

Took about an hour to put together. Was disappointed that the directions weren't a little clearer. And the predrilled holes weren't that well defined.
But we used Wood Glue for added strength. Three women put it together. And the children love it!

One of my worst purchases.
The wood came cracked and in general is not heavy duty. The nuts for the post come right off of the wood, so the post will not stand up without modification and wood glue. Simply put, not a good buy.

I purchased this sandbox for my 18month old. It took a little skill to put together but wasn't bad if you closely follow directions. Everything is as described. The benches are cute and fold into a cover easily. The awning is also nice and provides good shade. It has velcro so it can be detached and stored for the winter or in bad weather. The velcro is also sturdy enough to keep the awning in place in windy weather. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a nice-looking permanent sandbox.

We do some internal testing and also use some calculations using different sources to come up with a number that balances out the high and low.
