This doll is not your typical blue eyed and blond haired Barbie that we all are used to. This series highlights many trailblazing women from history who have made a great impact with the work that they did throughout their life. It was great to see what she was known for on the back of the box. These are special because they are actual women who are honored.

I was able to have some good one on one time with my daughter reading the background piece to her. With this short paragraph led her to want more information about Wilma. The doll went well with her other Barbie but this one stood out because of the background piece.

I love that even her dress tells a story. The four colored stripes represent north, south, east and west! It came beautifully wrapped and boxed. I like that her shape is realistic as a woman. Her moveable/bendable parts are useful, must better to play with and use in thr Dream house chairs. She is the mother of the barbies for my children. With my eldest, we were able to discuss the history and start the discussion on women's issues and equality.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I received this doll I didnt already know much about wilma, so it gave us an opportunity to explore and learn much about an important female leader of the Cherokee nation. The doll made the history accessible as my daughter and I read about what she had done. It brought history to life and helped make it real to a 4 year old who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to connect with it.

The doll created for Wilma Mankiller, the chief of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, was beautifully crafted with such detail. Most of her joints, including wrist, are moveable and her hands are clasped. Her hair is styled in a such a simple but beautiful way. My daughter loves her green dress, which is made of quality fabric with intricate detail along the neck. The doll can be displayed with its stand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Principal Chief Wilma Mankiller is a beautiful doll, and I and my 5 year old enjoyed talking about her story as we unboxed the item. My daughter was a little sad to learn that the hair is fairly styled down and she couldn't really brush it, but she was excited that there was a display stand. This stand is a saddle style, where you balance the doll, versus the type that clips around their waist, and we found that we had a more difficult time getting the doll to stay in place and we were unable to display her in as many poses due to the stand difference.

Her life story on back of box was very interesting and informative. The doll was beautiful. My four year old granddaughter was excited. She asked about the basket that was on her arm. We were kind of disappointed that it didn't have something inside it, that she would have been using. Also needs jewelry she would be wearing as a chief. If anything could be changed it would be an accessory era appropriate.
