Q: how does this feeder not attract squirrels? how to protect the feeder from squirrels?

A: Oh it attracts the squirrels alright! I've already purchased one baffle from Walmart and had to return it because the baffle was too big on the pole and couldn't be fastened any tighter. So trying to find a baffle that WILL fit is the current issue. Otherwise I've had to move the water and food dishes almost all the way up to the very top of the pole so the squirrels can't get to it as easily. A downfall to the way the poles connect to each other does give the squirrels just enough to latch their creepy nails into the hitch above and keep on climbing up to the next pole. (it's weird to describe yo) Why couldn't a baffle come with this bird feeder? I'm stuck with the squirrels and trying to figure out what baffle can/will fit the pole.
submitted byTiffith - 3 months agoA: Unfortunately, we are unable to answer this. BCP hasn't tested for such measures. Nevertheless, consulting with local pet store supplier may have solutions or deterrents preventing squirrels from eating the food.

Ok. Hear me out. I'm new to the bird feeding world. I've had this feeder for a few months. The individual feeders are nice to have them all purchased at once and not having to purchase them individually. The feeder that should be used for shelled peanuts can't really hold the peanuts as hoped. If it's windy or you have a very determined squirrel that climbs the poles in hope of having a free buffet. Those peanuts will be on the ground in no time. The meshy feeder is a toss up from being a hit or miss. I'm still searching for the right food that will be easy for the birds to actually eat but not so small that it falls out before the feeder is hung up. I wish the bird feeders could be sold with a baffle. I spent the first month or so going outside to yell at the squirrels to get out of the dishes. So don't waste your time and get a baffle right away. Otherwise, you'll have more squirrel sightings than birds. If you get this feeder on sale, you'll get the value from it. I wouldn't pay full price for this.

This was a great birdfeeder with multiple hooks and different types of feeders! I got this for my dad and he was so excited. Unfortunately, a few birds got their foot stuck where the branch meets the main pole multiple times, posing a safety risk.
