A: This base doesn't work as a stand alone. We used it with a low table and even while closed it blew over in a moderate-strong wind.

Q: Hi- I ordered this base with a Target shade umbrella w .87 dia pole. However my base didn't come w the plastic bushing noted in assembly instructions. Would that create better fit?Not working as is.

Q: What is the distance from the top of the tube, to the top of the knob? We need 1/2 inch for it to fit in crossbar hole and still turn knob.

Have only had for about 6 months and discovered that it has been rusting on the underside and that it stained my deck. It doesn't sitting in standing water and I even put a piece of wood under one side to make sure that air could circulate. I'm in SoCal so it's not like it rains a ton. I would say this is not suitable for outdoor use bc it really can't get wet all without rusting.
This is a lot less expensive, presumably because you have to fill it yourself. But it was super easy to do and well worth the extra few minutes.

I tried putting this together but the housing for the umbrella wouldn’t fit into the base. An extra piece or two in the packaging makes me wonder if this was purchased by someone else and pieces switched out. Back it goes!
