As a Louisiana native and someone who takes pride in cooking from scratch as much as possible -- this is one of my few acceptable "cheats". Blue Runner is the real deal. It takes zero time to prepare and always hits the spot. Like a previous reviewer said, add a little trinity, Zatarain's rice, a really good smoked sausage (tasso if you can find it), and a couple dashes of Louisiana hot sauce (Crystal or Tabasco will also work) and this is the bee's knees. Always in the pantry.

Nice to have in the pantry for a quick, filling and satisfying meal! Sure it's not like your favorite place in NOLA or whatever, and of course there are tons of ways to make these better/fancier, but all I usually do is fry up some sausage real quick in the pan and add the beans towards the end to warm them, then serve over white rice and garnish with some green onions on top and some kind of Southern hot sauce like Crystal. It's such a comforting meal. Yum!

If you're looking for a quick Louisiana/Cajun type meal, you can't beat these. They're basically ready to eat right out of the can. If you want to get fancy you can add some spices (garlic, onions, peppers and sausage), but that's only required to your personal taste. Otherwise they're ready to go as they are as the perfect side or main course (just add your favorite sausage or grilled pork).

these are the best redbeans ever,just add onions,garlic, bell pepper, saute in a tablespoon of olive oil,add sausage or ham, or salted pork, then add a can and a half of water and the beans, let cook uncovered for 30-40 minutes,until they thicken and serve with white rice, bread , cornbread and maybe spinich, or greens, or heat and serve add a can of water, cooke on medium heat for first 20, then lower heated for remainder, these are the best beans, better than from scratch, and so easy to cook, you won't regret it.
