Easy to make and flavor was good, however the red beans were more than crunchy. They need to be parboiled some more before packaging

This meal is affordable quick, easy and delicious . I love to add smoked sausages and shredded chicken to it. It’s a full meal on its own with an addition of corn on the cob. As a house of 1, it lasts me 2 nights

Instead of beef I use chicken, sausage, chicken and sausage, shrimp or shrimp and various seafood. always. Always great. I take a few everywhere I go.

I used to buy this regularly and it was delicious. It's been a little while and let me say that it is not what it used to be. The flavor is now bland and tasteless.

Here are the directions for our Zatarain's® Family Size Red Beans & Rice. Mix 4½ cups hot water, rice mix, and 2 tbsp. butter or olive oil in a 6-quart microwavable bowl until well blended. Cover and microwave on high for 5 minutes. Stir and microwave on medium (50% power) for 18 minutes or until rice is tender, stirring occasionally. Let it stand in the microwave for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving. ~JM
Beans don't cook well.

Every time I prepare this product, the beans never cook well. They're always undercooked and they're hard somewhat. Ideally, the beans should be completely soft.

Followed instructions exactly using 1/2 pound of turkey sausage. Instructions say to fluff the rice, but the rice did not absorb all the water - it was soupy. Not like a chicken noodle, but a little thinner than a pea soup. Cooked it an extra five minutes with the lid on, then 5 minutes more with the lid off so that more water could evaporate.

We're sorry our Zatarain's® Family Size Red Beans & Rice didn't cook and come together properly for you. The water should have been absorbed into the rice and red beans. Flavorless

This was the blandest rice dish I've ever tasted. I bought the family size, and added a cup of diced green bellpepper, and an onion that I had nicely browned. There was just no flavor, even when I tasted the dry mix, which was a white-ish color. No sign of the paprika listed in the ingredients, but there were flecks of red bellpepper. I was confused wgen tasting thw dry mix. It didn't have the flavor of beef, chicken or pork boullion, which I think was the mistake. In trying to save it from the trash can, the next morning I reheated it by browning till crisp on one side in a skillet with buttet. It was good substitute for hash browns. I then mixed it with some sceambled eggs. Still bland, but better. I wouldn't buy this again. I would have the ssme outcome if I cooked hamburger with some plain rice.

In the past (years ago) I enjoyed Zatarain's Dirty Rice, but the current product (in 2022) has bland taste. It's not unpleasant, but is very bland - a shadow of its former self. Plus it's now too salty. I assume the herbs and spices were removed to make it cheaper to produce. But regardless of reason I will not buy Zatarain's products again. Very sad to see quality products "watered down".

I agree!!! Where did the spices go? Absolutely no flavor! Definitely not an improvement! Definitely not enjoyable! This used to be any easy go to dinner with so much flavor, so sad! No more Dirty Rice for this house! Save your money… simply awful!

Okay, so if you haven't tried this yet, you are certainly missing out. I love it! I could probably eat this every day and not get tired of it. The flavor is awesome and it's not that spicy which is a plus for me because I can't eat really spicy food. Give it a try and I think you will like it as well.

I started eating this a year ago trying to make a p**eye* copycat and I acheived something even better. I eat it at least once a week now and try to keep a bowl ready in the frige for microwaving. I boil a hammock or preferbably a package of smoked pork neck bones on low heat for several hours, cool and strip the meat from the bones and chop it up. I measure the remaining liquid to scale for the recipe and add 1 1/2 teaspoons of cumin and 1 1/2 teaspoons of hickory smoke powder and finish the recipe according to directions

Box indicates there are 4.5 servings. Per the box, a serving is 1 cup prepared. There is only 3.5 cups once prepared. I'm on a very tight budget and plan to stretch my meals. Disappointing.
