Highlights
- 100% stone ground whole grain
- The original stone ground porridge of ancient Scotland
- Produced in the same old-fashioned way
Description
Bob's Red Mill Scottish Oatmeal is made with 100% stone ground whole grain. The original oatmeal was first made in Scotland centuries ago and was different from the rolled oats version we're used to seeing. It was a coarse meal that was produced by slowly grinding the oat kernel between two large millstones. Bob's Red Mill Scottish Oatmeal is produced in the same old-fashioned way and delivers all the health-giving nutrients of the best quality oats from which it was ground--the germ, the oil and the fiber.

Just made Nova Scotia oatcakes as good as Effie’s using the Scottish Oatmeal. They are now in constant demand by all with whom I have shared them. They are our favorite “biscuit” with tea and “cracker” for cheese.

Explosion in the microwave. 3 minutes on high????? I have a lower power microwave and 2 minutes ended up all over and left an oatmeal cookie in the bottom of the bowl. Has the instruction been tested before putting it on the bag? It's great tasting!

Oatmeal Volcano

The microwave directions create an oatmeal volcano no matter how big a vessel or lid I use. Do not attempt to follow the directions unless you need motivation to clean your microwave. Tasty though. I wish there were instant pot directions because I'd love to use that because hauling out my slow cooker seems like so much work (and my IP slow cooker setting sucks).

Scottish oats are my favorite! My newest way to eat them - 1/3 cup Scottish Oats, 3/4 cup water, 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream, 1/3 cup canned pumpkin, spices to taste (cinnamon & pumpkin pie spice), and about a teaspoon of vanilla. Add everything to a small saucepan, bring to a simmer and cook until oats are done to your liking. Delicious!! Hope you enjoy!
Perfect. Very good - and quick!

Perfect. It not only tastes great, but can be cooked so quickly compared to other forms of oat cereal. I couldn't get the stars rating to work, but I'd give it 5 stars.

Very good product but it's really easy to make it lumpy - I need some practice using this product.

I absolutely love this oatmeal. Ready in about 10 minutes and warms the cockles of your heart. It has a lovely nutty flavor and is particularly good with a little brown sugar or with butter and a dash of cinnamon.

I want to like this oatmeal, but the texture is just not to my taste. I prefer a more homogenous texture, like old fashioned oatmeal. But ordering was easy, delivery was fabulous and I have every intention of recommending Bob's Red Mill to everyone I know.

Makes great oatcakes which we cut with a crystal whiskey glass and store in empty whiskey cartons, of which we have several.

I absolutely love this oatmeal. I have eaten it for years and this coming from an oatmeal hater. I was raised on regular oatmeal and swore I’d never eat it again when I left home. Then I discovered Scottish oats! Life changing. I recently moved from Portland metro area to the Midwest and was thrilled to see that my local grocery stocks Bob’s Scottish oats. Please do not stop making this product. It is truly the best.
