Q: My screen is not reacting, tried everything but it stopped working?

submitted by Touch screen - 27 days ago
  • A: We’re sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with the screen on your BISTRO Electric Gooseneck Kettle. To troubleshoot, try resetting the base by unplugging it, waiting a few minutes, and reconnecting it to the power source. Ensure there’s no moisture or condensation on or near the screen, and if necessary, leave the base unplugged in a dry place for a day or two. Clean the screen gently with a damp cloth or an electronics-safe cleaning spray to remove any residue that might be interfering with touch sensitivity. Remember that the touch screen responds to duration rather than pressure, so lightly but firmly hold each button for at least 1–2 seconds (longer to power on/off). If the issue persists, please reach out to our customer service team at support@bodum.com. Thank you for your question and hope this helps!

Q: Does the water come in contact with plastic parts?

submitted by Jamillah - 6 months ago
  • A: Thank you for your question! The only non-stainless steel component that comes into contact with water in this kettle is a small, BPA-free silicone seal around the thermometer at the bottom, essential for precise temperature control. Additionally, the handle is attached with a plastic brace inside the top, but this part is located above the "MAX" fill line and does not come into contact with hot water.

Q: Is there a way to turn off the beep when the kettle reaches the final temperature?

submitted by Patrick - 8 months ago
  • A: No, there is no way to turn off our BISTRO Electric Gooseneck Water Kettle’s notifications or alarms, which are essential for safety and functionality.

Q: How do I turn this on? Instructions say: press power icon once to turn on display. Works, 212 deg shown with a blinking "F". Second press to boil just turns it off. Heat icon never appears.

submitted by Air Kevin - 1 year ago
  • A: When waking the screen you must gently press the power icon for three seconds. To begin boiling water at 212 make sure that the 212 F is displayed on the screen using the – and + icons. Then lightly press the power icon for one second. A long three second press after the screen is already awake will power down the device.

Q: Why does it talk a long time for the switch to come on with my finger on it? I find it takes up to 5-6 seconds, which is annoying. Is there any way around this delay?

submitted by Peter - 1 year ago
  • A: It takes about 3 seconds of a light touch on the ON/OFF symbol to turn on the control panel. This is the only way to turn on the device.

Q: I can't seem to get the keep warm button to work. Is there a trick to this?

submitted by Gunder - 2 years ago
  • A: You can't keep warm at the highest temp. So lower temp to 194 degrees. Then tap the keep warm button and then tap the power putton to start that setting.

TouchPad breaks after 1 use, there are no tactile buttons so if the TouchPad no longer responds, you cannot use the kettle. The first time I used this it worked great however it only worked once and now the TouchPad no longer responds when I try and turn the device on.

While we’re glad to hear you appreciate the ergonomic handle and gooseneck spout, we’re sorry to hear about your frustration with the touch controls on your BISTRO Electric Gooseneck Kettle. Since the controls are touch-sensitive, ensure they are clean and free of any obstructions at all times. It is also important to note that the device responds primarily to touch duration, so if the buttons are pressed too quickly, or too hard, the device may not register the input. If your issues persist, please contact our customer service team at support@bodum.com. We thank you for your feedback!

We’re sorry to hear about your frustrations with the BISTRO Gooseneck Temperature Control Kettle. Since the buttons are touch-sensitive, please ensure there is no buildup on the display that could affect its function. I like the kettle. Heats the water fast, no bubbling from the top like a certain manufacturer's kettle, and the gooseneck makes pouring water over the grounds simple as anything. And then there's the on/off button. Sometimes, it will work with no problem at all. Other times, no matter how long I hold down the button it won't turn on. I will be buying a different brand soon.

ALMOST PERFECT!! I wanted to keep this kettle so badly, but turning it on with the almost unresponsive touch screen was so annoying. It takes three seconds to turn it on and you have to hold your finger on until it turns on. For some reason it didn’t respond to the size of my wife’s finger and rarely switched on. If it simply had a normal button this could have avoided. Loved the feel and everything about it except the time it took to turn and how each time I went to turn it on I wondered: “Will it turn on?” I ultimately returned it after a few days.

Once I figured out how to wait for it to respond to my touch to turn on, I loved this kettle. Now my only complaint is that the lid has begun to show rust near the vent holes. Other than that, which really surprised me having only had it for about 6 weeks, and from Bodum no less, I continue to love the precise pouring this spout offers.

The best thing about this kettle is how smooth and controllable the pour is. It is so much better than any average tea kettle or electric water pot. No more worries about burning or metling pots and kettles on the stove for someone prone to distraction, like me. I use this every day for making tea, and pour-over and french press coffee. The temperature settings make it quick and easy for everything from green tea, to Oolong, herbal and black teas. I can get two large mugs from one fill. The maximum fill level is printed inside. Be careful lift the kettle only with the handle, the metal body is as hot as the water. The control takes a minute to get used to since it is a flat touch sensor. Just remember: touch the power button for a few seconds to turn it on and off, and tap the temperature and "keep warm" buttons to change the settings. The lack of actual mechanical buttons makes it very easy to keep clean. Also, you probably wont find this in the kitchen appliances section, it will likely be at the Starbucks in the store. I only found this out because I seached online and saw that there were 2 in stock at my local store but I couldn't find them on the shelf and decided to order it online and pick it up.

I've had the same experience as other reviewers where the on/off button does not work, and the Keep Warm feature does not keep the water hot. I can usually get the kettle to turn on once a day, but it takes a dozen or so attempts and some hard pressing. Aside from that, I love the design of the kettle itself, it heats up quickly, and it's quiet. Such a shame! I'll return it if I'm still able.

    Buttons Do Not Work

    SandNY - 1 year ago
PROS: Nice design, sized just right, temperature control for brewing different teas CONS: The buttons do not work. The control panel is flat so the buttons work like a phone, there is no bump nor feedback when pressed. When the on/off button is pressed it doesn’t respond. The button has to be pressed SO HARD it I can barely do it hard enough. It actually hurts my finger and definitely feels like I might break the plastic. I think the sensor underneath is askew or maybe not close enough to sense touch. But the amount of pressure needed is not normal. There are several reviews similar to mine so this appears to be a common manufacturing issue - which is unfortunate because if it worked properly the kettle is lovely. This is being returned and I’ll be buying a different model or brand.
