Q: Is the body of the pot insulated? Looking to know if the kettle gets excessively hot on the outside. I'm sure it gets warm, but will it burn you if touched?

A: Thank you for your question! No hot water should come into contact with plastic inside the BISTRO Gooseneck Kettle, as the entire boiling container and spout are made of premium stainless steel. The kettle’s handle and lid knob are plastic and affixed internally for stability, but they are positioned well above the MAX fill line and should not regularly come into contact with water being poured in or out. However, since steam is naturally produced when boiling water, some steam will come into contact with the plastic components. Hope this helps!

A: Thank you for asking! You can operate the BISTRO Gooseneck Kettle by simply depressing the clear plastic switch on the device’s base. It will audibly click when engaged, and illuminate blue to indicate that the kettle is on. The switch will automatically disengage, and the light will extinguish, when the kettle comes to a boil.

A: Hello, this kettle only allows for a temperature setting for a boil. Once it reaches a boil, the unit will automatically shut off. When looking for the optimal brewing temperature for French press or pour over wait about 10-15 seconds from the completion of the boil to pour on the freshly ground coffee. Enjoy!

Q: Are there any plastic components inside where the water touches? Is this made in China?

A: The inside of the kettle is all stainless steel. As long as water is not poured over the max full line, water will not come in contact with plastic during the boil. This product is made in China, but with the same high manufacturing standards as our products that are made in Europe.

The design of the lid makes it super difficult to open without burning your knuckles and as a result rust very quickly forms between the lid and kettle because you can’t quite get the inside dry! One star because it works but what a mess…I’ve only had this kettle a few months and I’m already frustrated. Very disappointed that Bodum let such an easily fixable design flaw go

It works fine but if you want to fill it with more water, it is tricky to take off the lid without touching the hot parts. So if you boil water and finish it, you def need to wait for the whole thing to cool off before refilling to boil more.

Worked great for a couple months then the automatic shutoff stopped working. It will just boil forever, even if all the water evaporates. Also, the bottom of the kettle is rusty. I do not recommend this product.

Had this for about a year. Still works great. Directions states to keep the kettle filled with water to avoid rusting in the bottom of kettle. If the water has been there more than 2 days I just rinse it out or clean it with vinegar solution. There is plastic in kettle but it shouldn’t touch the water and above the recommended fill line. Enough water for 2 small cups of coffee pour over or 1 large plus half cup.

Good looking kettle, truly a 1L capacity and boils quick enough. Pouring is a huge step up over a v-mouth kettle, a lot more control to pour slowly. Cleans up easy and looks good sitting on our counter. No leaks or marks like other reviews have mentioned. Definitely helped step up my pour over game and price is right.

Works well, I love that it is almost entirely stainless steel. There is a clearly marked “Max” water line, and it automatically turns off when the boiling point is reached. It boils fast, fewer than five minutes (when filled to the max line). The gooseneck is very stylish.

Bought this as a 2nd kettle for my less used tea area. After using 2 weeks once a day and then draining and drying after each use, spots of rust began to appear. It is much worse now and too late to return. Bodum customer service took over a month to reply to my complaint, telling me to take it up with Target. I’ve owned several kettles in my decades as tea drinker, but I’ve never seen anything rust so thoroughly, so quickly. Steer clear of this one.
