Q: can this be used to grind flaxseed or coffee only?

submitted byur stoopid - 2 years agoA: Yes, flaxseed (and chia seed) grinds fine and evenly in this blade grinder. 1/4 cup takes about 10 seconds. Flaxseed and chia have a lot of fat so some the ground seeds will cling to the inside of the grinder, which will have to be wiped out after each use. I've been grinding both seeds daily for over a year with no signs of blade damage.

Not bad for the price, but the lid is fragile, and the trigger wears down, makes activating the grinder difficult. Mine detached, and it's hard to find replacement parts. The mechanism can be activated with a small pin, so I just do that

Besides the somewhat I inconsistent grinding (which I could live with), the grinds fly out the side of the grinder where the red button is located. This makes for a messy situation and isn’t going to work if you use it multiple times a week like I do.

Unevenly grinds beans. You'll end up with whole beans mixed with powder and everything in between.

POOR DESIGN: deep narrow cup doesn't allow beans to move as they're ground. POOR COMPONENTS: high rpm low torque motor is so fast beans just sit above the blade. POOR QUALITY: It broke after about a week of intermittent use due to the poor connections between the lid and unit itself.

I have used this for maybe 6 months every morning. It was never great but it worked ok. Then one morning recently it just stopped grinding mid-grind. I notice a coffee bean wedged under the blade and thought maybe it caused the motor to overheat. But the thing should be designed to chop up coffee beans? I let it sit to cool down but it still won't work. Spend a few more dollars for something that will last. IMO.
