I had a problem with any thread being tangled around the take up lever, this was the second machine that had that problem. They replaced the first one, but since I had had the machine over 2 years they did not replace it the second time. Other than this major problem, I enjoyed the machine. I probably will not be getting another Brother machine.

Such an amazing machine! This is my first purchase! My first machine is a manual one that was passed down from my neighbour but this is a very high tech machine, very impressed.

A nice machine, however it's not for heavy fabrics. The sew steady table that was included does not stay steady! It has to be tightened and/or adjusted every few minutes while in use.

    My first Brother machine

I have only had my Brother machine for a few short weeks. I purchased it as a backup machine and also to take to quilting retreats as it only weighs about 10 1/2 pounds. It saves me from having to take my heavy machine out of my sewing table. So far I am quite happy with the performance of this machine. Not having ever owned a Brother, I was a little intimidated on learning a new machine, but once I got started, it was very easy to thread and wind bobbins. It sews very smoothly. I will mostly use it for quilting, but like the idea of the decorative stitches for anything else I will be sewing.

A great sewing machine that I'd buy again. Even stitching on even heavy fabrics. Easy to thread. Nice collection of decorative stitches, it will write text and good collection of presser feet. My only complaint is that reversal of stitches is somewhat difficult, i.e., it does not always reverse. But for the price it is a winner.

Overall I am happy so far with my CS7205. It is replacing a Brother Project Runway Innovis 40 that I loved. I still struggle with the needle threading feature, so difficult to get right each time but this feature is important to my old eyes. I have many more of the stitches to experiment with but I am determined to keep at it. The machine is lightweight and I like the many stitch and speed options. I believe it's a good value for the price on a new, unused machine.

I went from an old 1980’s Kenmore sewing machine to the Brother CS7205. Tried another brand but sent it back. This machine is perfect for me. I’m employed and don’t have much time to sew, just altering and minor projects. But when I retire soon, it’s going to get a lot more mileage. It performs very well so I’m excited to start the bigger projects. A machine can either make you hate sewing or love sewing. Brother has put my love back into sewing.

I'm very happy with my purchase. I had an issue in the beginning when hemming a stretching tshirt. The material kept getting sucked down and stuck. After i changed the needle to one used when sewing thin, stretching material the issue was solved.

    Great starter machine

Great starter machine, not very expensive, has a wide variety of stitches and presser feet, including the walking foot. I really liked the thread assisting device, BUT it didn't last long. The filament used to thread the needle is so thin and very delicate and it quit working to thread the needle. It was hard to thread the needle without assistance, so that became a major frustration and I bought a different brand of machine that has an air threader. Other than the threader not working very long, this is a great machine to learn on. After I got my new machine (different brand) I realized that the Brother is not as smooth as the new one. I realized that the feed dogs were a little uneven and was creating wobbly stitches unless I was diligent about guiding the fabric. As a side note, this could have just been me since I am a beginner sewist....lol. I do like the machine. At this price point I feel comfortable taking it to quilt classes or letting someone borrow the machine. This machine is more than just a basic machine with lots of possibilities and a wide variety of uses. The other major frustration I have with the machine is the throat space. I want to make quilts and wall hangings and the narrow space to work with was very frustrating. I did not realize that it would make that much difference but it does.

I liked this machine very much at first. Until i tried doing a straight stitch. 100% unable to do a straight stitch as the bottom stitching looks like a dang birds nest. Can’t do a zigzag stitch as it then knots and locks and tangles together under the presser foot. I am beyond frustrated at this point. Oh! And the bobbin cover is broken and keeps jumping up, it broke due to the knotted thread
