A: The simple answer is absolutely NOT! There are no bleach or glue or other inedible chemicals that would ever be used in the production of food product. Unfortunately this is the kind of silly information that is out on the internet and it is absolutely untrue. A: These are exactly the same as the Boots & Barkley product. There are approximately 102-103 chews per bag but as this as a natural product, we would expect to see some variation. There are approximately 15 calories per twist.

I used to love the rawhide treats we bought from target, but these smell like chemicals. There’s also a ton of really skinny ones in the bag. My dog eats the skinny ones too fast, before they get sufficiently soft. These used to be the perfect size for my dogs, which is why I was only buying from target. I haven’t decided for sure if I’ll be giving them to my dog or not.

Thank you for your comment. We can assure you that there is absolutely no change in the product whatsoever. Since this is a natural product there are different thicknesses of the beefhide that can result in larger or smaller twists. Since this product is sold by weight, if there were more thinner twists, there would be an increase in the number of twists that would offset it. Regarding the chemical smell, there is absolutely no chemicals whatsoever in this product but again because this is a natural product, sometimes there can be more or less aroma of the beefhide. PSA!!! I do NOT recommend these. Ours dogs have been eating rawhide sticks for years but this pack was an issue. We had to go to the emergency vet because our sweet dog was puking up blood (over 10 pukes in 1 hour). Dogs puke, it happens, but this was incredibly scary. Vet told us he had a piece of this stuck in his stomach and his body couldn’t process it. He is fine now, just a super expensive vet visit and medicine. If it had been a bigger piece it could have meant surgery or death. No more rawhide!!

If your dog had experience with rawhide this can certainly be scary but it is unlikely that it was the rawhide that would cause this reaction. Never had tried these before. My dog loved chewing on them but then she started throwing up and having diarrhea. We didn’t know where it was coming from but then realized it was from these! I wish I read the reviews ahead of time to avoid the cleanup.

I bought these before looking hard at the label. Got home and there were misspelled words. Googled address and it was a loading dock somewhere in Texas. Dog liked ok but not getting them again.

Our us company is based in Texas and the product is manufactured in our facilities in Mexico. It is the same facility that has been producing products for nearly 20 years for Target. These caused our dog to have skin allergy. Was put on antihistamine by vet, took these out of diet, relief for everyone, got the nonbleached ones at local pet store, no problems

We are very glad to hear that your dog has recovered. There is absolutely no bleach used in the production of rawhide. This all natural product would not cause an allergy that another rawhide did not. We would very much like to discuss this situation if you could call the number on the package.

I have used rawhides for 4 years and have never had a problem. My dog ate just one of these rawhides in the evening and vomited and had diarrhea all night. I withheld the rawhide the next day. Tried another in the evening and again he vomited and had diarrhea all night. I returned to Target and went back to a brand made in the USA and he’s fine.

We are very sorry that you are disappointed. The product, however, is EXACTLY the same as it was in Boots & Barkley. The product is made in the same Factory that made the Boots & Barkley products for over a decade. There is absolutely no difference between the Canine Chews products now in Target stores and the previous Boots & Barkley product.
