I opened the jar and it immediately fizzed like a shaken up soda. I agree with other commenters that the smell was "off" After tasting one pickle, I immediately spit it out and threw the jar out. Not sure what changed but it's not good!

I bought two jars of the spears this week. Both were sealed. I just opened one and immediately it smelled “off”. I tasted the liquid with a spoon and immediately spit it out. I opened the 2nd jar and same thing, disgusting. I’m mad. Quality control??

I always buy Clausen cold pickles. This time I bought 2 so I would have extra in my back fridge. When I opened one jar and tried to remove a spear it was mushy in my fingers and fell apart. This has never happened to me before especially with Clausen’s because they’re always cold and crisp. I checked the other jar which had a sooner expiration and it was fine. Weird.

These pickles are so vibrant and delicious, but I usually get the whole pickles, and I found the spears to not be as satisfyingly crunchy. If you’re a pickle person, Claussen is the way to go!
