Q: I used color oops Mon,& it did not take all the processed color out. It left it an odd orange reddish color. Im trying to go from red to my natural blonde color. How soon can I use color oops again?

submitted by Karen - 8 years ago
  • A: Color Oops can be used twice in a day but we suggest to wait an additional day. When coloring hair, a mixture of artificial hair color and hydrogen peroxide (oxide/developer) are used to deposit color into the hair. At the same time it is depositing color, the hydrogen peroxide (oxide/developer) can lighten the natural pigment your hair. Therefore, even though you may be coloring darker, your natural pigment may be altered. When color Oops is applied and the artificial color is removed, what is left of your natural color will be exposed. If your natural color was altered, you will see a brassy, red or warm color. In this case, you can re-color to your desired color.

  • A: Hi there!!! So this particular product is for lifting color not removing it. For example: my hair is blue right now, if I use this- it will bring my deep blue to a light blue because that is the base of my hair color right now. Just like the red goes orange- because it's the base color for your red hair. As far as when to use it again, I use it same day if needed.

Q: So I dyed my hair color from my natural light brown/blondish hair to this permanent jet black hair dye. If I use this product what can I expect for the results.

submitted by Daniel - 2 months ago
  • A: Color oops will remove the color but you might be left with brassy undertones.

Q: I died my hair brown... it turned out black with a litttle bit of a reddish brown on top... Will it fix my hair? I'm a brunette

submitted by Ann - 2 months ago
  • A: Color oops will remove the color to help you get back to your brown hair.

Q: Is it safe to bleach the hair, after using color oops?

submitted by Froleela - 4 months ago
  • A: It is safe to bleach the hair after Color Oops. We just suggest to make Color Oops is completely washed out so the old color doesn't return.

Q: Hi I had used a Féria light brown hair dye then decided a week or 2 later , I wanted to dye it dark brown … I hate how dark it is , will color oops get it out? Without any orange left in my hair?

submitted by Risa421 - 6 months ago
  • A: Color Oops will remove the dark brown as long as the dark brown is an oxidative color, meaning the color was mixed with a developer. I can't guarantee that you won't be left with brassiness since brunette colors have warm tones.

Q: If I use this product to remove the permanent dye I used, How long before I can dye my hair again?

submitted by Tina - 6 months ago
  • A: Hair can be re-colored immediately after use but we suggest waiting a day or two just to make sure that color oops is completely washed out. If Color Oops is present in the hair when you color the hair will re-darken.

Q: i bleached my hair a few months ago, and recently dyed my hair red but it ended up being splotchy. will this product return my hair to its bleached blonde and not be splotchy due to uneven coloring?

submitted by Emma - 7 months ago
  • A: Color Oops will remove the red as long as the color is oxidative. It should remove it and yes if your hair was blonde it will return to blonde maybe with some brassiness or pink hues depending on the base of the red you are removing.

It got black box hair dye out! I’m actually impressed. It doesn’t say on the box but the most important thing is to make sure you shampoo it THOROUGHLY so the leftover dye doesn’t reoxidize. Also do NOT leave it on longer than 20 minutes, after about 30 it’s not working anyway. You may need a round or two more depending on how light your natural hair is, but it’s WAY better than bleaching ! I will definitely use again.

I have shoulder length, very fine, naturally light brown hair & years of dark brown, near black boxed dye that I wanted to remove. I purchased the regular red box product & applied as directed. It had no odor, clear & consistency of water. I followed the directions to the letter & had nearly zero results. The only change was a slight lightening to a light red on the very top of my head. I feel this product is a complete rip off & waste of time! Additionally, it had no affect on the feel of my hair, another reason to believe it was basically water.

This product really works!! I was skeptical at first reading other reviews, but I decided to give it a go. I had ion burgundy hair color, very red and vibrant, then decided to go to Revlon jet black, huge mistake, it was too dark and I didn’t like it, despite coloring my hair black for years using box dye , I decided to use the color oops and it took the black right out!! All of it!! Lifted my hair to a brassy orange. I did use two boxes to hit any dark spots I missed the first time, follow the direction as it says, and make sure to rinse the full amount 20 25 minutes, after I toned the orange with a dark ash blonde!! If you’re looking to remove color this stuff is a miracle! Especially on dark color as well.

I used color oops to remove one application of Clairol red hair dye on virgin hair. It faded a bit but not much. I can still see the line between the dye and my roots. YES I followed the instructions as closely as possible. It DID give me an aura in my left eye and scared the crap out of me. I've never had one of those before. Won't be using that again!

I had some faded red and pink which I wanted to remove, and took a chance on this which proved successful. The smell wasn’t great but I just double washed my hair afterwards and the smell was almost gone, disappeared completely after my next wash. The most annoying thing was standing under the water for 20 min in the shower, but if you love long showers you won’t mind ❤️ overall, it did its job! Do recommend. Picture shows faded color and then after using color remover with bleached roots.

I bought it not looking at the reviews and whatever I looked at the reviews. It scared me, but after using it and following the steps word for word. I had a brown semi permanent hair dye in my hair on top of my level six blonde hair and my roots are very dark. It did not change my actual root color at all although I know some of the reviews it did it did not change mine and my hair No longer brown and looks how it looks whenever it was bleached(I would like to add my hair was bleached not naturally to this color before the dye) Also, the smell is bad, but it does not last and it goes away just make sure you follow the steps correctly and it will go away in the first wash. I also use oil and a leave in conditioner on my hair so that might’ve got rid of the smell as well but I do not smell anything anymore

I used this today to take out several layers of dark brown permanent haircolor. It worked wonderfully. I'm at a dark golden blonde now. I've been coloring it dark brown for 20 years. I am floored with how well it worked. Yes, it's stinky, but I expected that. It didn't linger for me. I don't smell it in my hair or bathroom. I use expensive shampoo that really cleans. Don't expect it to work for semi permanent color. Permanent or demi permanent only. And follow the directions exactly. It a lot of shampooing and rinsing but that's what it takes to get all the color out. Overall, I'm thrilled with this product. I may use a toner in a couple weeks and will expect that the hair will suck up the color so I'll use a lighter color toner, which it syayes in tge directions. Most importantly, read ALL THE DIRECTIONS. And watch YouTube videos to know what to expect.

And I don't even notice a difference in color not to even mention last time I dyed my hair was 6 months ago

I have used this product since it came out. First in the UK and now in America. I have always had great results so was surprised to see so many bad reviews. I last used it 8 months ago and was happy with the result. Not this time… My hair was highlighted and colored on top with two light brown Wella color charms over the course of three months. I took the advice of a sale associate at Sally’s, yes big mistake, and used Wella color charm 5nn on my light brown gingerish hair. The result was BLACK! Argh! Cue color oops! Next day I used color oops expecting a significant lift. Used it as per instructions. That was so tedious… Anyway, hardly any color was removed. It’s the worst result I’ve ever had. I am so disappointed. I wonder if the formulation has changed? It didn’t smell so bad like it usually does. It didn’t come with the little bottle of shampoo. If you use this don’t expect miracles. I may do it again but it’s just so tedious.

It did NOTHING to pull out color. I’m a natural redhead with short hair. I had my hair professionally dyed brown and it was dark than I wanted. I waited two months and tried color oops. Used half the bottle the first night and it didn’t work. Tried it a second night using the remaining amount and saw no difference.
