Q: Hi! Does the compass have inch AND centimeter markings? I can see it has inches, in the pic. Thanks!

A: Hello Michelle, Yes, this does have inches and centimeter markings. - Jonathan

Q: How do you lock the compass in place for a given angle? It seems to just swing loosely.
submitted by L - 4 years ago
A: Hello L - We're happy to answer that. If the compass is too lose, the screw on the top of the compass may be tightened. The compass does not have function to lock in place. Thanks for reaching out! - John

Q: Circle Diameter What is the maximum size circle one can make with this compass? Are those marking for the radius or diameter?
submitted by need2no - 5 years ago
A: Hi need2no – Thanks for viewing our office supplies! What a fun way to learn math. The compass will make a 6” circle. Diameter is measured from the center of the circle (from edge to edge), where the radius is from the center of the circle to one side of the circle. Thanks for dropping by. - Anita

This protractor cracked in half within 1 month of school (was in a pencil case). Haven’t tried the compass yet.

Very flimsy and cheap plastic. Cannot make a circle without moving or lifting the pencil or metal tip. Useless. Buy a metal one instead.

Needed to get a protractor for my incoming 4th grader, per school supply list. This is a great option, at $2 back to school pricing makes it quite the value. Comes with a compass with short black pencil! What a win

the compass needle does not stay in place, the whole compass is really cheaply made and I am not able to use it and will have to purchase a different one now.
Basic, Cheap, Disappointing.

This is my second time buying this and I knew this was coming but I’m extremely disappointed. Both compasses I’ve used have broken, the place that holds the pencil becomes loose over time and won’t keep the pencil in and the clip comes off easily. The numbers on the compass are backwards which can be annoying and confusing Finally, the Protractor, the main reason I bought this. I like using this in my math class and also at home to make "Character Info" sheets. It was fine for a while but one day it just snapped in half during my travel to school. The plastics cheap anyways, but I didn’t expect it to break this early into usage. Overall really disappointed, and this is the only one target carries in store. I’ll be getting my algebra supplies from somewhere different now :/
Just what we needed

My son had to use this compass for geometry and within a week of use, it could not contain the pencil and would skip circles.

Horrible and cheap. The compass does not lock into place, and moves so easily that it’s impossible to draw a circle. Pretty pointless. The Q&A say the screw can be tightened, that’s inaccurate. I tried tightening it and it did not help at all. Don’t buy this junk.
Best back to school purchase!

For this price it’s great. Is it the best quality? No. If you push too hard it opens up easily - needs some kind of locking system - but again I think for the price it’s totally functional and good. I would recommend for a teen or adult who can use without putting a lot of pressure on it (causing it to widen). Not the best choice for younger kiddos.

When I first got the set it worked great but after a month of use the pencil side of the compass got loose and won’t hold the pencil anymore. No complaints on the protractor 🙂
