  • A: Hello Laur! Since the Coppertone Pure & Simple Kid's Sunscreen Spray is a mineral sunscreen it can leave a white cast that can stain clothes. We hope this helps!

Gets the job done for sun protectant but it is so thick and sticky that it’s unpleasant to use. Doesn’t even rub in easily.

love this sunscreen! it’s light, easy to apply and provides good coverage and protection. also has a nice scent that doesn’t smell like typical sunscreen. i also like that the top turns to lock so i’m not trying to keep up with a small clear lid all the time.

CAUTION!!!

Caution: DOES NOT WORK! I used this, and the lotion version, on my kids religiously our first day on the beach, and they both burned terribly. I thought maybe it’s just because the iv rays are stronger in the south, but I used our Blue Lizard lotion from last year the next few days and there was no additional burning. Because I didn’t realize this sunscreen didn’t really work I used it on them again on the last day because the Blue Lizard tubes ran out, and they both burnt again. It’s a cheaper option than the Blue Lizard, sure, but it’s not worth the damage it did 😞 please be cautious using this on your kids!

Purchased this product in hopes of finding a “better” non-toxic sunscreen. Sprayed on fine (a bit white) but felt very heavy and sticky on the skin. As I understand from other reviewers this is the nature of mineral sunscreens. My reasons for 1 star are because this was near impossible to wash off in the shower and left a really weird rubbery funk on my skin. I took 3 showers in effort to remove the smell. I’ll be returning this 😕

Bought this last summer and it was good mineral sunscreen in a spray. After not using much in the winter, it now sputters out in clumps and makes a giant mess.

This used to be our favorite sunscreen. I have four kids and one with very sensitive skin. This was our go to. It wasn’t too thick. Sprayed evenly. Melted into the skin. No reaction. But it is SO thick now. It sputters chunks out and is really hard to rub in. Will need to find a new go to. So disappointed.

Awful. My daughter has super sensitive skin, so I stick to mineral sunscreens for her since she seems to do better with them. We did the proper application, and re application with this, and she still burnt. She also has a rash where the sunscreen was applied, and her face is puffy. I feel awful, we ended up going to urgent care due to the possible allergic reaction.

Works great, people just don't understand how a zinc oxide sunscreen works.

This is the best quality of sprayable zinc oxide sunscreen I've ever used. I think people who are rating it low are confused on how this sunscreen is meant to work. Zinc oxide sunscreen is not meant to be fully absorbed by your skin; it sits on top of the skin and blocks UV rays. Like all zinc oxide sunscreens it does have a thin layer that you are able to feel on your skin but what made this one the best for me is that it sprays well and I don't have to worry about a bottle of liquidy sunscreen exploding in my bag. It doesn't spray as aerosolized as other chemical sunscreens and does need to be rubbed onto the skin, but the method of delivery i.e. spray rather than dipping my hand into a pot of it is what makes this much more functional for me. Additionally, I am incredibly fair skinned and usually burn if I am in the sun longer than 15 minutes or so. I used this at my first beach day of the season in Florida and was barely pink when I left 4 hours later.

My 2 year old got an itchy horrible rash after using this. It’s bumpy and she’s itchy all over her body including her face. I feel so horrible for putting this on her! I thought I was doing something good by protecting her from the sun. Just horrible. Also it’s really thick, stained our stroller and feels impossible to get off in the bath.

While this did protect me from the sun all day, it is a VERY thick spray and does not go on evenly. Leaves a white cast and had to spread out. Basically like using a lotion sunscreen

Good mineral sunscreen

I don’t know what everyone writing negative reviews was expecting—mineral sunscreen leaves a white cast, can be hard to rub in/get off, stains things, and the thickness means you have to clean the nozzle. I don’t think this is a problem with this specific product, just mineral sunscreen in general. (Maybe it’s not with expensive versions but I need one that’s cheap enough per ounce for me to use as much as necessary without guilt.) And As far as mineral sunscreen goes this didn’t seem any different or worse than others I’ve tried. It keeps me from getting burnt (but def don’t apply in the wind, I bet that was the problem with at least some of the ppl who got burnt), when on a windy beach I apply in my cupped hand first and then rub in. I don’t know, if you want a mineral spray sunscreen and know the drawbacks vs chemical ones, then you’ll probably find this product to be just fine. I have children and eczema and chemical sensitivities in the family so I have to use mineral despite the inconvenience, but it also has plenty of advantages too, from your own health to the health of the ocean so it’s worth it. My pic is from a fully used bottle, note no clogging bc I just swipe our excess with my finger after use.

We’ve been using this for a few years and love it! Our daughter has never burned while using this sunscreen. It does come out quite thick, but still better in a spray, then lather. It is hard to get off materials, so just be cautious where you’re spraying. We also use the face sunscreen, and have ever burned with that too (including my husband and I).
