Q: Is this the same as Coppertone Water Babies?

submitted by Alice - 2 years ago
  • A: Coppertone Water Babies is a hypoallergenic sunscreen with aloe and nourishing Vitamin E and is free of Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, dyes & PABA. It is water resistant (80 Minutes) and delivers Broad Spectrum SPF 50 UVA/UVB protection. It contains chemical sunscreen ingredients (Avobenzone 3%, Homosalate 9%, Octisalate 4.5%, Octocrylene 9%) that are often referred to as “organic” filters and absorbs UV rays. Coppertone Pure & Simple Baby Mineral Sunscreen is also a hypoallergenic sunscreen and is water resistant (80 minutes) and provides broad spectrum SPF 50 protection. It contains the physical sunscreen ingredient, naturally sourced zinc oxide, that absorbs, reflects and scatters the sun’s harmful rays. Pure & Simple Baby is also free of Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, PABA, parabens, dyes & fragrances.

Q: Is this good for a 1 year old who has eczema?

submitted by Erika - 2 years ago
  • A: Don’t use this. It burned my 5 year old so bad. She has flares of eczema and nope this one sucks. It gave her blisters like she walked into the sun with oil

submitted byEllie - 10 months ago
  • A: The Coppertone Pure & Simple Baby Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 is not specifically formulated for users with eczema. We recommend checking with your Pediatrician for advice on a sunscreen product best suited for a one year old with eczema.

Q: Is the sunscreen effective for adults too?

submitted by William M - 11 months ago
  • A: It should be effective for adults. I sometimes buy baby products for my skin because they are generally less irritating.

submitted byLiza - 1 month ago

Q: For what age baby is this intended?

submitted by ohmom - 1 year ago
  • A: All of our Coppertone products are safe and effective for adults, kids and baby (over the age of 6 months). For children under the age of 6 months we recommend you check with your child's doctor.

Q: Will this burn if applied around the eyes/if sweat causes it to get in eyes?

submitted by dkiwi - 4 years ago
  • A: The Coppertone Pure & Simple Baby Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 is a tear-free, hypoallergenic, and gentle formula.

Q: Why does this have butyloctyl salicylate, that is not hypoallergenic. I want to try this BUT salicylates trigger eczema. You should chane the product to not contain that!

Best sunscreen for sensitive skin

5 out of 5 stars
Thumbs up graphic, would recommend
Anon - 11 days ago
I have struggled for years to find a sunscreen that doesn't make my face feel like it is fire. Coppertone Pure and Simple baby is the best one I have come across. It is easy to put on, but remember a little bit goes a long way. It takes longer to rub in, but all mineral based lotions do. I put this on an hour prior to going to the beach and reapply once during a 4 hour beach trip in south Florida . I barely get a tan, but that just shows how well this sunscreen works. Unlike water based lotions, which his one stays on your skin when in the water, and you will notice it.

Terrible white cast and overly greasy shine

Madeline - 9 months ago
Works well for sensitive skin, but has a very bad white cast. Takes a very long time to rub in, and on darker skin tones it might not work. Leaves skin looking shiny and greasy, and pills in the water a bit.

Every other sunscreen I try triggers contact dermatitis. This is my go-to body sunscreen. It has a terrible white cast (even on my pasty ghost skin), but it doesn't leave me with a miserable, itchy body.

Works Great But Not Worth It For Anything Else

So the good of this product is that it works amazingly at what it’s supposed to do - protecting your skin from the sun. My husband, two little ones, and myself all used it. We didn’t experience any issues with rashes etc even on our youngest who has extremely sensitive skin. With that said, everything else about this was awful. Difficult to apply and rub into skin. And an absolute NIGHTMARE to remove. No exaggeration my skin was greasy for 4 days after using, and that’s with swimming in pool, multiple showers, scrubbing, etc. We applied to our kids while they sat in the (new) SUV trunk and it left a stain on the bumper of it where it had dripped. Still there almost a year later even after car washes etc. While I appreciate that it protected us from the sun, it just isn’t worth it for us! Going with another brand/type now.

I love this sunscreen! I've been using Coppertone for years on my skin and my kids. I trust I'm getting the best sun protection. It's difficult to remove and I'm perfectly fine with that because I'm happy knowing my skin is protected with full zinc. I'm not looking for sun protection short cuts. This is a great product.

Do not buy this sunscreen. After using it, I broke out in a terrible, irritating, itchy rash that has lasted a week so far. I have never had a reaction like this to a product. It is also terribly drying to the skin and leaves behind a drying, uncomfortable film for days that is hard to get off, even with multiple showers. I wish I never used this product, because this rash reaction is really uncomfortable.

Rash - bad inactive ingrediants

Bwod - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
I purchased this because it was mineral sunscreen and cost less than the other mineral sunscreens. I was In a rush and didn’t look at the inactive ingredients. I should have known by just looking at the brand that there is nothing pure & simple about this. My daughter has sensitive skin and her entire body was a red rash within two hours of using this.

Contains harsh chemicals, such as silicones that are harmful to the environment and individuals. Opt for a more natural sunscreen to protect your babies from the sun and complex harmful ingredients.

I have eczema and very sensitive eyes. This is the only sunscreen I’ve found that is affordable that I can use on my face. I blend it with a makeup brush (which also works really well with toddlers and babies). I use a makeup remover to remove it at night. I live in the sunny desert so I usually need to reapply it which makes it even harder to remove - but it melts right off with a cleansing balm (I use pondscold cream). Yes it has parabens but please Remember they are antibacterial and antifungal so your product will last longer with less contamination and it DOESN’T STING EYES👏👏 and can actually help eczema.
