Q: I would like to use this to bake homemade Italian bread, in the oven. Can the lid be used with the vessel in the oven at 450 degrees? I need to have a Dutch oven that I can put both the lid and pan together in a hot oven.

Q: Could this be used instead of the ceramic insert that comes with a regular Crock Pot? It would be nice to have a dish I could use in the cooker but on the stovetop too.

I am 57 and have raised a family using only the "Dutch oven" included in various pots and pan sets purchased over the years. This was my first actual "Real" Dutch Oven made from cast iron with an enameled interior. OMG what a difference in how it cooks! I've only used it once so far- but it cooked my dish more quickly and evenly than I could have imagined. There is No comparison to cooking with an aluminum pot! The clean-up is easy. It's heavy of course because it's cast iron, but I wish I'd invested in such long ago. It's also beautiful. I can't make any claims to its longevity since mine is new. It's a bit concerning there is a rough edge vs smooth finish at the top edge where the inside enamel meets the cast iron. Time will tell. Of course cast iron pots such as this need to be hand washed.

I honestly can't believe that crockpot put their name on these. I'd think it was a fluke but it's happened to my match set. enamel started chipping in the first two weeks on each.

Only received this a week ago, and luckily it arrived with no shipping dents or chips. Already, this reluctant cook has made chicken enchilada soup and French onion soup. Today: no-knead bread. The two soups turned out truly great, with a minimum of work. Who knew cooking could actually be fun? The blue finish is quite lovely. It is fantastically heavy, but that’s part of what makes it work like a miracle. I’m very happy I took the chance and sprung for this miraculous little addition to my (previously) non-cook’s kitchen.

This dutch oven works great. My only complaint would be the orange and red are separated a little more obviously than the photo appears. I was under the impression it was one color, but that's no one's fault but my own--the ombré is definitely not subtle/gradual though, just FYI!

It arrived yesterday. Came with a few page cookbook type of thing:) the color is beautiful. It is a burnt type orange. I got it so I can add to my collection of cooking items. I can not wait to cook in it:)

Great item. Would give it 5 stars if it were dishwasher safe. Stainless handle (knob on lid) and all ceramic appears to be thick and consistent. Easy to wash. Anything that does stick comes off easily with ceramic cleaner paste. Great for the money.
