Diono Monterey 4DXT Latch 2-in-1 Booster Car Seat

Love that this has a heavy solid frame for safety, latches in so it doesn't slide around and tightens easily with the two pull tethers. The seatbelt doesn't come out of the guide (a problem we've had before), and most of all the expansion capabilities. This is the only high-back booster that doesn't squash my sons's shoulders. The fabric is breathable, easily removable, and washable, and my kid loves the headrest which he calls the pillow. My only complaint is that we had to add a little duct tape on the styrofoam of the headrest in one corner because it squeaked when the seatbelt moved and was annoying my kid.

I purchased this car seat in RED at 50% off on October 30th 2024, car seat arrived on 2nd November 2024. We tried to assemble the car seat - BUT THE BACKREST WOULD NOT LOCK IN WITH THE BOOSTER BASE, IT JUST FALLS BACK TO THE FLOOR. I even saw videos on how to assemble it but this car seat didn't work. Atlast I took it to the nearest Target store to seek help, 4 target associates tried to help me ( one of them has exactly same car seat for her kid - she knew how to assemble it) - BUT THIS CAR SEAT DIDNT STAY UPRIGHT IN CHAIR POSITION, backrest kept falling back. SO ALL 4 OF STORE ASSOCIATES CONFIRMED THAT THIS CAR SEAT IS DEFECTIVE. I want to reach out to the 3rd Party seller DIONO for a replacement or a new order with same discount but nobody is helping me. Terrible experience. I chose this car seat for my veryyy chunky special needs kid who won't fit in regular car seats.THIS CAR SEAT IS EXPANDABLE & my kid fits in it - that's the only reason I bought this car seat after extensive search. I am so much heart broken and disappointed. If someone can help me please??

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the new seats. I bought two for my Grandsons. I did not love the production date being September 2023 for two full price seats. They were over a year old by the time I received them. I emailed Diono and they say it's normal. Not very happy about it. Will have to decide if I am boxing them up for return.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very easy to install and adjust to the correct settings for my kid. The seat belt guide for over the should has been updated. This update makes the belt less likely to easily pop out. However, it is a little on the narrow side which doesn't allow the belt to easily retract when not in use.

We bought this seat 2 years ago for our 100+ percentile children (height and weight). We liked the shoulder width was adjustable and wide enough for them to fit. We've been on several road trips and the seat remains comfortable for them. And recently we were in an accident, the airbags deployed, and this seat kept our child safe. We are replacing it with the same Diono booster seat.

I have tried contacting Diono multiple times with no response. I ordered two Monterey 4DXT Boosters on 6/20/22 but I have received nothing and very little communication as of 7/11/22. I would love to leave a review, but I have nothing to review.

Worst service

The seat was great to start, my son love the red color and I love the idea of adjustable sides as he's growing. It's been a couple of years now and we've noticed it's very loose especially for his slim built. I would adjust the expanding sides to his current size but by the next day it would be wider than what it was adjusted to. I expected a latch to hold certain width but that's not the case.

Could use a latch system to secure the back. Makes a lot of noise when on rough roads. Would have been 5 stars if not for that.

My daughter likes the vibrant color and cup holders, but the headrest seems loose (along with the headrest fabric being ill-fitted) and constantly squeaks while the vehicle is in motion. I guess that's what styrofoam does though...

My son loves his new “big kid” seat. The installation was super easy and he can get in and buckle all by himself. Great booster!

I love our Diono seats. We’ve had multiple styles since my oldest was out of a carrier. They are comfortable, easy to clean and most importantly SAFE. This will likely be the last seat we ever need (youngest is 6, 56lbs) and while that is kind of sad I’m glad that we found this brand so long ago. My youngest picked the color herself -vibrant blue-and it’s very comfortable. She can easily buckle herself and the belt remains in place and doesn’t bunch up-like our previous 5pt turned booster (also Diono). My oldest also has this seat in purple/pink (9yo and 65, tall for her age but we still use the back for maximum safety). We have had her seat for over a year and it has held up very well for daily trips to school and multiple days of use per week. This is the perfect booster combo. 2018 Honda Pilot with captain chairs

Just received and installed our Monterey 4 DXT in Yellow Sulphur. The color is bright and vibrant which made my kid happy. It took only a few minutes to read the instructions and install the seat via Latch. Hopefully we will never have to experience how safe they say this seat is. So I can't speak to that for now. So far, the only downside we've discovered is that the seat is wider than expected. My 6yo has a hard time reaching around the wings to the seat belt insert which is flush up against the side at the back of the seat bottom in our VW wagon. The width of the seat nearly covers the seat belt insert. The cup holders that pull out are also too wide and we can't pull the holder out on the door side. In fact the cup holders are too small and do not fit our Hydroflask or Kleen Kanteen bottles! Forget about the bottles with the extra silicon base. This was shocking since most stainless steel bottles on the market are near identical in diameter. Furthermore, we can't use the cup holder in our car's center fold-down armrest either because then my kid can't unbuckle their seat belt. The Diono seat is just too wide and doesn't leave a gap. Overall it seems like this car seat will do better in bigger car. And Diono should consider increasing the diameter of the cup holders at least a 1/8" to accommodate standard little & big kid sized bottles (vs. smaller toddler bottles.) I'm about to write to them about this - it's a big issue for pretty standard equipment on car seats. And this model is brand new so it's not like water bottles have changed in the last few months. Truly surprised by this oversight.
