The Diono Radian® 3R is the original slim-fit 3 across All-in-One convertible car seat, designed to protect from baby to booster seat (5 - 120 lb). A: This seat should fit in a Chevy Malibu. Keep in mind, if you are installing it rear facing, it may take up 32" - 36" of space depending on your vehicle seat pitch.

Q: Our granddaughter is quite tall for her weight and age. She will have to face backwards for at least a year. How much room do you have for the child's legs when the seat is facing backwards. Some of have room than others. Thanks

A: This car seat does tend to offer more room for a growing child. With low boarding sides, children often sit with their legs cross or hand over the side for comfort. Many children ride in this seat rear facing up to 4 and even 5 years old.

Both of my children have the Diono Radian 3R car seat and we love them. The size of these car seats are very convenient specially if you have a small car. I love the color selection that they have and my children are safe while on the road. They’re so easy to wash too. The only thing is that they are VERY heavy.

We are super fans of the Diono Radian 3R, Bought one for our 2nd and last kiddos, now 17 & 14yoa, back with the previous/original company. It was a true delight when my 2yo son was due to have our first grandchild and he insisted on this exact seat for his vehicle, because he remembered how well they’re made. My only con for this seat, and reason for 4 instead of all 5 stars, is the material. I wish that they had kept with the same soft suede-like material for the entire seat, as they used to be. We don’t care for the current material, but bought 2 for our newest addition. Please consider this change, Diono!!

There were quite a bit of delays with our shipment. We ordered two of the same model. One of them was shipped just fine, but when we checked to see the status on the other one, it said it got sent all the way back to WA after making it almost all the way to our house. When we called customer service they kept telling us they would call us back but never did. My wife called them again a day or two later and they told us they couldn’t do anything because we didn’t get the package protection. Just a bit frustrating.

My child is 6 months so I had him rear facing. He constantly slouched over when falling to sleep because there is not much support. There is one level of padding so probably not that comfortable either for long rides. Took me forever to see how to install and snap the head support padding on (I had the black storm model) the instructions wasn’t that clear. Not recommended for the price.

But not an infant and toddler friendly as it doesn’t come with a support for the head which I think is very important for those age. But other than that it looks cool and very sturdy. I just hope it will be 100% safe if accident happens.

I Purchase this car seat last year in March and now one of the side wings has extended past what it is suppose to. I contacted Diono customer service team and they told me that the side wings do not hold up weight and that if my child pushes on it wrong it could potentially break. They told me that there’s nothing they can do because my warranty ended in March and it’s not a safety concern . However I don’t feel comfortable putting my child in a car seat that has a part that is doing something it shouldnt. I also Don’t understand how you can put a part on a car seat that is going to malfunction like that especially on a car seat that can go up to 120lbs. I would give this rating zero if I could.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't realize how heavy these car seats were. While I didn't remove completely from the box, it looked to be made really well. I was hoping that since the chair folded, it would be easier to fit under my double stroller. I saw a photo of someone carrying this model like a backpack which also led me to believe it was much lighter than it actually is. As a result, I will be returning the 2 that I purchased for my 3yr old twins. I would probably recommend to someone who needs a sturdy but narrow car seat for their car, not to be moved around.
