Description

The DOD Envelope Filter 440 guitar effects pedal makes guitar speak with vowel-like sounds, and cry with slow-filter sweeps that react to pick attack. The addition of the up and down switch lets choose which part of the sweep want to emphasize. Guitarists will love the "UP" setting for classic envelope quack. Bassists will love the "DOWN" setting for big dub sub thunder. The 440 is back and the neighborhood will never be the same. The DOD Envelope Filter 440 has Level and Range controls. Level controls the sensitivity of the envelope; adjust this control to tailor the triggering of the filter based upon pick attack. With a higher sensitivity, a lower signal will affect the envelope's effect. In other words, with a higher sensitivity don't have to pluck as hard to make the effect audible. Range controls the range of movement of the envelope's sweep. Counter-clockwise sweeps more low frequencies. Clockwise sweeps more high frequencies. The Voice switch allows to choose which part of the filter sweep want to emphasize. True bypass allows guitar tone to remain pristine even when the new DOD Envelope Filter 440 (2014) is off. This is a big difference from the original which would color bypassed tone. The modern 9V DC power supply input make the pedal more pedalboard-friendly.

Great envelope filter for guitar! Nice Jerry tone

This does the job just fine once you get used to the settings and sensitivity of these filters. Since envelope filters are triggered by frequency range, you really need to spend some time playing around with both the pedal settings and your guitar tone knobs and pickup selector. Also picking dynamics make a difference. There are terrible sounds and amazing sounds in this filter, that could probably be said with any pedal. I was going to get some pricier envelope pedal, but there is no need to. This is great for what I want. (Primarily a good Jerry tone) The controls offer enough, yet are simple to use. Doesn't hog space on the pedal board either.

I bought it on a whim, rekindling myt childhood when I used an 90's version. Not the best filter for bass since it has no dry or cutoff, but works great for guitar/added to other effects. I will use it for home studio stuff, I dig it! Only way to get this sound if it is what you are shooting for!

Simple but deep in the range of sounds I have been able to coax out of this box. The sensitivity delivers a great range of colorful options. The down sweep is great to access a whole new voice. Can't wait to loop it in to my Rubberneck and lose a few hours to experimentation

Does exactly what it’s supposed to with little to no learning curve. Most importantly, it sounds great on both guitar (up) and bass (down).

I bought this a couple weeks ago. Plugged it into my pedalboard and instantly had the sound I was looking for. J Garcia, 311, J Greenwood, it’s all there. And it’s a solid build. Very happily with my purchase.

I'm a big fan of a lot of DOD pedals both past and present. I'm also a big fan of filters/auto wahs, and have a fairly decent collection of vintage and modern. Overall, the 440 is among my very favorites. It's simple, easy to power, and has a surprising amount of great sounds in a pedal with only two knobs. I liked it so much, I actually bought two!

If you want to sound like Jerry Garcia you really need an envelope filter for some songs. This is versatile and replaced the wah on my pedal board. Great product and price.

I bought it hoping it would do well with a fuzz pedal, it really only does alright by itself, it is a very sensitive pedal in the way you pluck the strings and what you have connected to it. Also i found that it sounds slightly better through certain amps. But for the most part, it’s a one trick pony

So glad that Harmon either found some NOS or started manufacturing again. One of my favorite Envelope Filters. Very Vocal. Not as bubbly as a Qtron.
