Drybar Big Brew Instant Thickening Styling Treatment - 4 fl oz - Ulta Beauty

A couple of years ago I started noticeably losing hair and thinning out. I thought it was a new medication at first, but since I'm still struggling with it, I'm guessing it's hormones/age/genetics at this point. (I have consulted a dermatologist and that was the gist of what they told me as well) My hair strands are very fine and silky, so mix that with an overall thinning of density you get FLAT, lifeless hair. I have spent so much money on styling products over the last few years and nothing worked. I decided to give this one a try, because why not? I have nothing to lose (except more hair LOL). WOW....just wow. This stuff actually works. I apply a small amount, maybe pea sized, to my fingertips and massage it in my scalp that way, working it through to the ends. It's a very thick cream, so I was hesitant at first thinking it would make my hair greasy and even more lifeless. But it makes my hair SO soft and actually FEELS thicker, without a gross residue feeling. After blow drying and finishing with my heated round brush, you can actually see the hair isn't sitting directly on my scalp at the roots. The strands feel thicker and the style just lasts longer. Now, if it's windy out, nothing is going to save my hair. But this stuff is by far the best styling product I've tried. It also says that continued use over time improves hair follicle health resulting in less shedding. I will say I've been using it consistently for over a week now, and this may be a coincidence, but I can notice I'm definitely shedding less hair in the shower. Less than I have in a very very long time. If you're struggling, give this stuff a try! If you don't like it, at least you can return it at Ulta.

Just like all the other thickening creams, gels, and sprays that I have tried, it left my hair full of static and dry and brittle. I tried it three days in a row then took it back for a refund.

This gives me the volume and height I want. I have fine, blonde hair. I use it with other products and since I have starte this one my hair has perked up and it has hight and volume.

Helps with volume and less flat around face. Helps with less hair loss and breakage

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In now world should you follow the instructional video. Unless that chick has hair like an otter, there's no way that amount is necessary. I used far less and still had super gross hair afterward. It didn't make my hair feel or look fuller, just kinda gunky. Not a win for me.

I haven’t tried any Drybar products before but I got a sample and it was absolutely perfect for my hair. I have a lot of trouble finding products that agree with my naturally curly hair, but every time I use this after wetting my hair my curls are perfect every time!

I have just above my shoulders length hair. I'm naturally dirty blond and have full head highlights. I have fine, thin hair. I use about a dime size amount. I don't section off my hair as per directions though. I rub it into my hands and then massage into my scalp all over and pull it through all my hair. I comb it through after that too, then blow dry. It works decently when it's the only styling product I use, but I get better results when I use this and a bit of plumping mousse. I don't personally don't think it does anything to combat frizz, at least not on my hair. It helps hold your style in your hair like hairspray but without any sticky. This really isn't a product for ladies who are still menstruating age fyi.

Unfortunately this is one product I would not buy again. Makes hair greasy looking. Even when using a minimal amount.

I have very fine, thin hair and not a lot of it. I wanted this to work so bad based on some reviews, but it didnt hit for me. It was WAY too thick and weighed my hair down (it felt like glue), and also had a really weird smell. Hope it worked for some people but it was not for me. :(

Didn't add volume. Made hair frizzy and had a residue. I returned this.

I have very thick hair and I wanted to try this out to add more volume, applied as said on bottle and when done my hair looked flat EXTREMELY greasy and feels and looks dirty. my hair takes DAYS to get oily and this made my hair look dirty and oily when usually day one i have nice oil free hair. threw the whole bottle away.

This gave me the opposite of thick hair! I tried it on damp then dry hair because I couldn't understand what had happened because my hair was so limp, lifeless & flyaway! I even ratted it like the 80s girl I am & I couldn't even get it thick enough that could clip it up! SO expensive & ulta cancelled my bonus Drybar trial trio or I would've skipped this. I'm stuck with it because their return policy isn't great.

I've had this product for several months. I tried it a handful of times, using the applicator as suggested. The directions say a little goes a long way, but couldn't tell how much I had applied. I was worried about using too much. Applying it this way, the product made no difference in my hair. I decided to try it one more time, before trashing it. This time, I dispensed a small amount to my fingertips to massage into my scalp, and another small amount to massage into my hair down to the ends. Applying it that way made a huge difference! My hair is full and bouncy, exactly what I wanted from this product. If it doesn't work for you, try different application techniques.

Game changer! I’m in my early 50’s and am experiencing pretty major thinning, especially on the top/crown area. I have been using the Drybar Southern Belle root spray, which I like, but adding this Big Brew really upped the game! I part my freshly washed, damp hair in sections from forehead to crown and squeeze a line of the product down each row and massage it in with my fingertips. I have curly hair that I blowout straight with a round brush and this gives me major volume and it just looks and feels thicker with the big brew! The only reason I didn’t give five stars is there just isn’t enough product in the tube and it’s difficult to squeeze out. It’s almost like the tube is too big for the amount of product, so fill up the tube please and it would be great if you made a larger size!! Hopefully this product is never discontinued! I.love it makes my hair fuller without making it dry, I wish hair products were unscented,so will not interfere with cologne.

I bought this to add to my options of thickening styling products. Big mistake. I am in my late 50's with thinning hair. I use some type of thickening product every wash. I followed the instructions on this one and styled my hair. It is VERY thick even using just a tiny bit. My hair is weighed downward and as no shine and no movement. It looks awful. If I had time, I would shower and restyle. My hair looked better getting out of bed than it does after shampoo and style with this product. Perhaps it is better suited for curly or wavy hair. Mine is straight but not fine. I suggest a trial size before investing. Expensive for a 4oz tube.

Used this for the first time today. It definitely gives volume and makes hair appear thicker. I shed a lot of hair, and have only used it once, so don't know if it prevents shedding yet. Just for the volume and thickening affect, this is worth it. Love Dry bar products!
