Earth Balance Original Natural Buttery Spread - 15oz

Don’t waste your money. I can’t even describe how gross this product is not just taste-wise but texture-wise. It’s almost like eating salty plastic — Earth Balance should be ashamed of themselves this is one of the worst vegan products I’ve ever eaten if not the worst. I normally use the Melt brand which tastes identical to real butter but tried this one and I’ll never buy anything from Earth Balance again because they lost my trust. Target should replace this awful product with the Melt brand.

Have loved this product for years - until recently. I had to throw out the entire tub because of the heavily RANCID taste. I thought it was a bad run, but a newer tub had the same strong, unpleasant taste. Now I see from other reviews it's not a batch problem, it's a product change. Too bad.

I have used and loved this product for over a decade. I actually preferred it to real butter, and it was always a safe food that I could enjoy without worrying about getting sick. What happened?? The new formula is awful! What used to be an easy to spread, light, and slightly salted creamy flavor now tastes outright RANCID! I feel nauseous every time I use it. Sorry EB, you’ve lost a loyal customer!

Too bad Conagra changed the formula. Used to be great, now it's like chipping ice to get the product out of the tub. Impossible to spread.

I have used (and loved) Earth Balance Buttery Spead. It is no longer the same product. It tastes different and is not good! It is now very hard to spead, no longer creamy. I must now find a new buttery spread. ☹️

I recently had to change my dietary habits because I had heart attack. I bought Earth balance because it was recommended to me and I actually like it. It’s not butter, but it’s about 90% there and that’s good enough for me.

Not sure what changed. We’ve always left it out on the counter. It gets soft, but it’s icky greasy, has oil sitting on top. When I try to take some butter to spread on bread, the butter slides off the spreader. There’s another brand we bought that was like that and we threw it away and went back to this butter only to find it does the same thing. Then strangely I opened it the other day and there was mold growing in it. I’ve never had that happen before. Not sure how the recipe changed but something changed.

Please understand that I NEVER write reviews - the fact that I am doing so now is surprising even to myself. I don’t know what has happened to the formula or if there is some bad batch that’s gone out, but this butter has just ruined a whole week of meal-prep, and wasted money. There is a distinctly artificial “woody” flavor that is genuinely nauseating… I didn’t know anything could even taste like that. This is the second tub with this issue, and it is so disappointing as this has been my go-to butter for years. If the formula has changed, I’m sorry but it’s horrible. If this is a bad batch, what happened to quality control? Really hoping for improvements, but I will otherwise be exploring other alternatives. I can’t afford to remake meals. To potential buyers, please be cautious. As it is now, I unfortunately cannot recommend this product.

The only dairy free butter we use. The others taste so bad.

We have been using this butter for as long as I can remember and now I can't handle the taste. I was hoping it was just a bad container, but unfortunately it is not. We are so sad and need to find a new butter to use

I've been buying this product for years, but the tub I have now is impossible to use! It's so hard that I've broken measuring spoons trying to get the product out. Forget about spreading it across a piece of bread! Unless I see something that lets me know that you've returned to the original recipe, I won't be buying it again.

This used to be my vegan go to spread but the new formula is awful. The butter doesn’t spread. You have to scrape chips off of it. It’s hard and dry. Whoever approved this change needs to be fired. I’ll never buy it again.

I love this buttery spread. Several years ago, a dietitian recommended this product as part of anti-cancer diet. I love the taste and smooth texture. I'm not sure if some buyers got a bad batch, but I think it tastes just as good as always. I buy it frequently.

I have bought this for years and I am very disappointed that the product has been changed or the worst. It is impossible to spread now, like a rock. Why do this? I will have to find an alternate brand.

I was a very happy customer and only used your product until the recipe changed. It is now horrible tasting. How did anyone approve that change in taste? I would not recommend it to anyone. Please go back to the original recipe.

This was always my favorite butter until something happened. It tastes bad and I don't know why. There is no other butter I like besides that one coconut butter I can't find for years so I've been using this until the taste became bad. Can you please change it back to how it was please. It has never tasted so bad before

We used to love this product, until the recent formula change. Not being able to spread it onto bread is no bueno. We will look for a new product. Can you please tell me what you changed from the old formula and why? Thanks

New Buttery Spread is terrible. Left out for more than a few minutes, it is too soft and greasy.

Been eating this product 25 years...love it! Need access to larger quantities

This used to be my favorite spread. Now something changed, not to the better. It doesn’t spread, it tastes really bad. So bad I will change to a different brand. I rather pay much more for something that tastes well.
