A: Hey there Kat! We agree, the Gel Couture Top Coat was made to give the Gel Couture nail enamels a tough, long lasting finish with loads of shine, but it can be use over any nail enamel.

This top coat is amazing! By the time I was done applying it to my second hand, my first hand was dry. I used it with an Essie Gel Couture base, along with another non-gel glitter polish before applying. Photos don’t do it justice. I’ve been using other Essie products and they seem to take hours to dry. I can’t even put on pants an hour later without them rippling. I opened a seltzer 30 minutes after this and not a dent or smudge. It’s only been 24 hours, so can not speak to its longevity.

If you just put the color on the color chips, but you make sure you put the top coat on in it last for a long time. I highly recommend it you won’t be sorry it’s highly worth the money.

This is the only top coat that makes my nails look and feel like gel polish for at least a week without retouching. Other top coats still allow my nails to split/break, but this one does not. Pros: dries quickly, evens out when applied, works with any color nail polish underneath, makes my nails look like I have gel polish on.

I find it gives great top coat coverage and makes the nails very shiny. My color stays on for about 2 weeks with little to no chipping. Definitely great cost savy version to stay home and do nails.

The first picture was right after the manicure dried, and the second is two weeks later- which is pretty good, considering! I did not do as the Essie website says, because I didn’t reapply the topcoat 1 week in; I was already chipping (just a little tbh) and I was curious if the color would last without it. I’ll see if it does better with it!

Essie is definitely one of the top nail polish brands and this right here proves it. I personally used this as both a base coat and a top coat and it looked great! My nail polish stayed on a very long time using this. It also dried under the lamp very nicely. It has that classic nail polish scent but I also did not think that it was very overpowering. Layer this on top of any polish and you will have shiny nice nails. The brush makes it easy to apply and you only need a few swipes or sometimes even one swipe to cover your whole nail. It is not gloppy which is great. This is definitely not a revolutionary product, but it does as it is supposed to do and does it good. Thank you again for sending me this product for free to review!
