The EVE Audio SC205 Active 2-Way Nearfield Studio Monitor isa compact 2-way solution for studios with limited space. The SC205 comes with a5-inch woofer. Withthe safe fade-in, get a slow volume increase when switching on to protect earsand equipment.Tech TalkThe SC205 uses the 5-inch SilverCone woofer for extended bass response. Thisvery stiff diaphragm is honeycomb structured and glass fiber coated. Like inother models, such as the smaller SC204, the SC205 is driven by a sophisticatedlow-distortion copper cap magnet system that uses a 1-inch voice coilresponsible for delivering a greater linear excursion. All in all, thisproduces a bigger dynamic range than you would naturally assume from a speakerof these proportions. The result is an unsurpassed audio transparency that,when coupled with the proprietary AMT tweeter and PWM amplifier, will surpriseyou with a very powerful and precise low end.The Air Motion TransformerThe AMT (Air Motion Transformer) tweeter is EVE’s proprietary technology thatfollows the rule of not using ‘off-the-shelf’ components when looking for thebest possible results. The preciseness and detail in the high frequency, alongwith the general tightness of the bass and mid-range frequencies, will make theSC205 equally adequate for use on the road or in the studio.Understanding the Air Motion TransformerThe Air Motion Transformer (AMT) is a unique driver technology, distinct fromother audio drivers. It utilizes a lightweight, hand-folded diaphragm that isthinly coated with aluminum. The current of the music signal flows throughthese conductive strands. The diaphragm is placed in a powerful magnetic fieldleading to movement in the folds caused by the Lorenz force. Due to theopposing direction of the current the walls of each single fold work againsteach other. The air between the folds is squeezed in and out at a ratio of 1:4,compared to the 1:1 ratio of a regular dome tweeter. This results in higherresolution and dynamics in the tweeter section, along with a very lowdistortion level, allowing superior sound quality with enhanced detail andclarity.The SMART-KnobPress and hold the control for three seconds to put the monitor in Standbymode. The volume will decrease gradually while the LED ring lights up oncearound the Volume control. Afterwards, the LED on the right end will remaindimly lit and the power consumption is reduced to 1 watt. The volume can beadjusted by turning the knob. Depending on the LED mode selected, the volume willbe displayed as a dim or bright circle or as a dim or bright point. To put themonitor in Mute Mode, turn the Volume control counterclockwise until you reachthe minimum level. When the LED on the left end lights up dimly, the Mute Modeis activated. Press the SMART-knob once to enter the Settings menu. Here youcan set different filters as well as the LED ring's behavior. The LED of thecurrently active function blinks.
