FAO Schwarz Peg Art Light Box

Love the retro look and a good brand. kids love it.

Bought this for my grandson who lives in Germany. When he opened it, the peg drawer was missing! Now I am trying to figure out how to out how to get him pegs since the lite-brite replacements are not recommended.

I bought it for my son as a Christmas present. He loves it. It needs 3 AA batteries. It works great. I read some reviews mentioned about the pegs it’s difficult to push the pegs in and out . So my son did pay attention on the pegs when the first time he tried. Actually we found out all the pegs have two different heads, one pointed head side and one flat head . When you push the pointed head side in, it has no problem at all, easy in and easy out. When my son turned the light on, all pegs are lighting up. So far, everything works perfectly.

Retro cute with the same creative potential of the larger more bulky Lightbrite.

This looks well made and very good for gifting. My daughter loved it so got one more to gift another kids

Cheap, waste of plastic

The different pages and colors brings all the fun. It’s so compact and easy all around. I would purchase this for gifts for any child occasion.

I bought this as a Christmas gift in November, we put in new batteries and nothing. Took it back for a replacement and they said no it was past the return window. At this point I do Not recommend this product or Target.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a really cool concept and I loved the fact that it looks like a retro tv but as we were creating a picture on it my son dropped it and a leg immediately broke off, almost too easily. Then my 8 year old couldn’t pull the pegs out and I barely could. Overall I wouldn’t of bought this☹️

This is 0 stars. This is so poorly designed and executed the only explanation I can think of of how this got to market is that they expected people nostalgic for a 1980s light bright to purchase it and never thought anyone would actually attempt to play with it. It is designed to be thrown away. The toy has an inconsistent light source (not very excusable given the price of LEDs) behind a black shield that is not penetreteable by the plastic pegs. This means for over 75% of the holes, the light doesn't shine through but the black shield prevents it. Also, the shield pushes out the pegs so they do not sit in the hole. I understand the reasoning for the shield, and in the actual modern light bright, the shield is prepunctured with a cross score to allow the peg to go through to couple with the light source. This shield, if done properly, allows for a better play experience than the original from the 80s, because the unused holes don't allow light to shine through, meaning you don't have to have a new black sheet of paper every time you want to make an original picture. I had to physically poke holes in this shield to get it to function and it still has trouble keeping the pegs in places and the light behind the screen is in a clear x pattern in a blatant attempt to be as cheap as possible. What is particularly damming, in my opinion, is that the product came with several sheets of paper for templates and blanks. The blanks are useless and not required for the product to function, it was clearly added on by someone else who understood the original 80s toy more than their own product. This is sad. The templates are also clearly reused assets because they didn't even come with guides to fit the holes. So if a child ever attempted to make the cute elephant, they would be sorely disappointed because the pixelation of the holes and pegs cannot reproduce the curvature. We got this as a Xmas present. I spend hours fixing it, which was nearly impossible because it's plastic cold welded shut. This is the laziest design I have ever seen. Whoever pushed this into production should feel bad, it clearly was rushed, not thought through, and not tested. And the marketing is clearly designed to appeal to nostalgia whilst never expected anyone, much less a child, to play with it. It was designed to sell off the shelf and be lost in a mountain of toys and future garbage.

Does not work after battery install. Pegs also do not stay in place which is frustrating for my kid. Would not recommend

Put in the batteries and only 4 lights turn on. We had five adults look at it, even an engineer couldn’t get it to work. Totally defective and a very sad 4 year old on Christmas.

I did not see any other reviews saying this so maybe I got a faulty one but the pegs pop back out immediately. You stick them in and they pop out. I got some to stay after pushing them back in more than 10 times and even after that and walking away I came back to find some had popped back out while it was simply sitting there. Definitely returning as this is not functioning enough for my kids to enjoy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I was a kid growing up in the 80s, we had the lite bright. This toy is very much like it, but upgraded. My kid liked the different choices of design and ease of use.

This is actually really cool. I think my teen will like it for Christmas, she likes retro looking things.

I needed 2 of these but whoever packaged it for shipping didn’t add any packing material leaving one broken and the other scratched up.

They couldn't even give you the tiny screw driver needed to open the impossible battery compartment. It lacked allot of things but mostly just any effort on the creators part. TRASH...
