Deceiving

Price-quality ratio is ballooning and not a reflection on what you actually will get. I am surprised they call this essential. For this price at least have the decency of providing more durable tokens and of not removing the "solo" functionality. Deceiving to say the least. Return is on the cards.

Be Aware that this “essentials” version has flat, PAPER token versions of the resources and ships. It also has 20 less cards than the normal version. We LOVE Everdell games, and we were excited to find this amazing price ~ but we were SO disappointed to open it and find nothing but cardboard resources.
A welcome entry into the Everdell Universe

If you’re looking for the Everdell experience and don’t want to invest in every Everdell expansion made, Everdell Farshore is a great alternative. We have played several games now and the game flow is very smooth. It’s a more streamlined Everdell that is easy to teach and get to the table. Only downside here is if you’re a solo player since the essentials edition doesn’t include solo components.
my new favorite game

This game is so fun. It has become my favorite board game. I have played it over 20 times within a few months. It is a 2-4 player game, but I have only played it with 2 players. It usually takes my husband and I around 45 minutes from start to finish, but the first time we played it took around an hour and a half. It was complicated to learn how to play, but watching a video online helped me a lot. Once you learn how to play, it is simple to play. In a nutshell, you send your workers to different areas to collect resources (to buy cards) and prepare for the winter. I love the strategy this game has. There are multiple ways to try and win. Since this is the essentials edition, it doesn't have the resin pieces like the original version has. All of the pieces except for the wooden animals are cardboard punch out pieces. The game pieces and the cards are high quality. I noticed that the game board scratches easily. This game's artwork is so beautiful.
High quality and very fun!

Fair warning:this game has 9 pages of instructions. Also fair warning: my teenager took no time to figure out the game with their friends and had a fabulous time playing! I’m impressed with the high quality of the pieces!

The *Farshore Essential Editions* game is an absolute gem for both casual and serious gamers. It brings classic gameplay elements into a modern format, making it easy to pick up but hard to put down. This is an easy game to learn for newcomers but can keep everyone entertained. The game looks visually stunning. It is bright and bold. This is a perfect game for anyone who loves board games. My family has played this several times now and it has become a favorite.
Very strategic.

This is similar to like a d&d game. The concept is great, there are just wayyyy too many pieces and parts to keep track of for my preference. The graphics are very well done and the story is good. Really more adult centered I would say based on strategy
Very entertaining!

This board game is super entertaining for people of all ages. The pieces are well made out of wood and very thick board. The box interior is structured so that it is easy to put everything back the way it was originally. I look forward to playing this with my extended family at the holidays!

When looking at this game, it seemed like it would be fun for family night. However, after getting the game and going through the instructions, it is very complicated. Just figuring out where all the pieces go was complicated. There are no real instructions on how to play the game.

I give credit to the people who made the actual pieces. It is beautiful to look at and very nice quality. I think it will last a long time. However, I don’t know if it is just me, but this was the most confusing game I have ever tried to play.

This game is beautiful, imaginative, and really high quality. We haven't played yet, but I'm really excited to set it up and dive in. Even the game play instructions are lovely - you can tell a lot of thought went into it.

We love this game! I was not familiar with the series but we are now hooked and cannot wait to play all of them! The board is 3d and so much fun. It’s easy to put everything together and the game was way to learn. It’s fun for the entire family or a friends game night! I highly recommend!

Nice little fun game sort of reminds of of kids risk in some ways. The construction of the game is extremely high quality and withstands the wear and tear of use. Love the use of characters and actually plays pretty quick.

I received this product for free from the Hey, Bullseye™ sampling program in exchange for my honest review. Farshore is fun family friendly board game full of animals and seaside adventure. The “essential” version from Target is a reduced cost version of the game with a more expensive version at other retailers. The minimum recommended age is 10 years. My kids are teenagers so no issues with learning the game. The pieces are very sturdy cardboard. You have to take time upfront to punch them all out. Included in the box are several zip top bags for storing all the pieces and a molded insert for the box with compartments for storing the pieces and for access to them during game play. The materials, though cardboard, are very sturdy. Even the booklet provided to learn the rules and how to play is full color and has lots of pictures which i definitely need to understand the game better. Great for families or kids. You can play with two to a max of four players. I received this prod

This game was so much fun for my older kids and I to play together. The instructions are very thorough which helps us understand the gameplay and rules. The artwork on this game is absolutely stunning on every piece. It really adds value and helps you enjoy the game more. The 3D lighthouse is also stunning and so much fun to have in the game. I love that it came with bags to help store the small pieces which helps keep the game organized.
Very good game for hardcore gamers, harder for lite gamers

Generally I like board/card games, but Settlers of Catan is a little beyond my limit in terms of complexity and this game goes just beyond that. My husband is also into games but also does more complex things like D&D so he was SUPER into this. I didn't hate it, it was just a little overwhelming for me and I'd be more comfortable with something like Ticket to Ride. So between me giving it a 3 and him a 5 I'd say we average out at a 4 stars. Really beautiful artwork and I can appreciate the concept just a lot for me to manage as a player.

Very colorful bright and engaging game. This is a great strategy game perfect for quality time. I love the board and pieces are all made of a thick material. The critters are nice solid wood pieces. It was a little overwhelming at first but now it’s much easier. I’m looking forward to trying the other everdell games

We are a board game family (2 adults, 2 teens) and play on a fairly regular basis, so I was excited to try out Farshore. It is a fun game! It's a bit intimidating at first because there are a lot of pieces to learn about, but we quickly grasped the concept and we're able to play a full game in about 1.5 hours as first timers. I'm sure games will go faster in the future as we get better. I especially love that there are multiple ways to gain points, and therefore win, so you can work with different strategies and change up your game play mid way through if needed. It's competitive and can be very strategic, but you could also simplify the rules if you have younger kids. Very happy to add Farshore to our collection. We'll be playing it a lot!

My family and i love playing board games together and are always looking for new games to try. This game took some time to learn but once you figure it out it is lots of fun. My children 15,13,11 and my 7 year old had a blast playing it.
