Love the versatility of the watch, as I’m still trying to figure out functions like the golf course feature, which I’m still having trouble with. Screen set-up is fairly easy, use of application is fairly easy. Would i buy this watch again, heck yes!!

Great watch. You might ask if its worth the upgrade? Yes! Voice control, it now has a speaker and just simply the response you get from the watch when you press the buttons. Its faster and brighter. I love it.

This watch does more than I'd ever need it to. Love the rucking and ballistics features on it. And I know the light isn't exclusive to the tactix 8, but I use it EVERY SINGLE DAY. Very happy!

I really love this device. There is a lot to learn since there is so much it can do but it's been fun playing and learning. Let's get this out of the way . . . the battery life is insane! I mean, 30 days of constant use! Once you get it set up everything is easy and all of your info is instantly available right on your wrist. I have more to do with it now that I'll be riding my new bike, running, and swimming again. I'm confident it will handle all of that with ease.

Nice and improved display but watch faces on the Tactix 7 Amoled is way better! Tactix 7 functionality and operations is also better. I do like the sensor protection better on the Tactix 8. MK3 is still my favorite!

Bought this skeptical of the AMOLED screen since they do not make a 47mm MIP. So far it has been absolutely perfect.

Only minor complaints.(51mm not 47mm)

I have two minor complaints, other than these two, I enjoy this watch. Battery life: I get the amoled burns the battery down quicker than my previous Tactix 7 pro solar. My issue is with battery life is the consistency of “always on”. If I have the watch set to always on with no sleep mode, I get 14-15 days of life. If I turn sleep mode on from 2030-0520, the screen of off, completely, overnight, so I “should” get a few more days of life because the screen isn’t actually always on for those 14-15 days, it is actually off for 25% of the time, approximately. I just turned off “always on” off, and sometimes the gesture feature doesn’t make the screen display, so all of that is why I consider it a minor complaint. The other issue is the Bluetooth. I road bike and use a Garmin Edge 540 to track all of my metrics, so my watch doesn’t get taxed. I will use the watch to pair Bluetooth and Spotify to a JBL clip 3, and the Bluetooth gives out often. The speaker gets disconnected. The same issue was present on the Tactix 7, but it is much worse on the Tactix 8. The disconnects act as if the speaker is too far away, even though it’s just over an arms length away from the watch. I noticed this most during a 50 mile ride, and today during a 30 mile I used my phone for the speaker and the sound and connection was pristine through the entire ride. I am going to reach out to Garmin for support as I have a centurion ride coming up and do not want to use the battery on my phone in case I need it for an emergency and so it can provide signal for live track for the duration of the ride. Aside from these two points, I absolutely love the Tactix lineup. i will continue to stick to tactic line of watches.

Faithful Convert from Apple

Old Devil Dog - 2 months ago

I have always worn Apple Watches as fitness trackers and have always been annoyed with them. They were really good at being smart watches, which I found was the annoying aspect, and they were mediocre at tracking fitness and that’s being a bit generous. I don’t want a phone, or an extension of my phone, on my wrist. I want a time piece that also tracks fitness very well so I starred researching purely fitness trackers and zeroed in quickly on Garmin watches. After settling on the idea of giving up the Apple Watch Ultra 2 to give Garmin a shot, I decided on the Tactix 7. I was getting ready to pull the trigger when rumors of a Tactix 8 release was coming soon so I decided to wait, and wait, and wait. When it was finally released I jumped immediately. I’ve been wearing the Garmin Tactix 8 since its initial release and all I can say is “WOW”. The only regret I have is not making the switch sooner and I will not being going back. There is a common theme in the Apple Watch vs Garmin Watch debate that sums up the differences. The Apple Watch is a great smart watch with some fitness tracking features, and the Garmin Watch is a great fitness tracker with some smart watch features. I could not agree more and the Tactix 8 is the cream of the crop as far as my needs are concerned. I live in the Rocky Mountains of northern CO. The environment is very hard on all gear and so I tend to buy the roughest and toughest gear options available or it just gets chewed up and spit out. So far the Tactix 8 is exceeding expectations and genuinely and quickly improving my sleep and health for the better. The sleep tracker and coach is life altering if you act on the data. I anticipate the Tactix 8 should provide many years of solid, dependable wear and fitness tracking. I could not be happier about my purchase and to me, the higher cost is well worth it.

Meh not a huge improvement over the Tactix 7 pro

… I guess I would be fine sort of given the lackluster upgrades over the Tactix 7 but Garmin… you guys seriously? 2k watch and you can’t bother to give me two straps? Why is it that I’m being told that watches purchased outside of the US got both the rubber and nylon band and ones purchased inside the US only get rubber? Come on?!

I've been wearing Garmins for over a decade, and this is a huge step in fit and finish, functionality, screen, and just about everything. I never leave home without it.
