A: Hello Sou, thank you for your question. There is no specific time frame, it all depends on the amount/size of surges it absorbs. The technology will not allow power to run through the surge protector once all protection has expired and that's how you will know it has expired because none of your devices will be powered by this item anymore.

I learned that this will take up 2 outlets. Portable heaters (and hot water kettles, and blow dryers) must be plugged directly into a wall outlet, not into this surge protector. Fires can start if too many high wattage things are plugged into a surge protector. Check the wattage of your electronics, then decide if this fits your needs. Phones, fans, laptops are generally low wattage.

I am glad we no longer have to unplug some things and have to reprogram clocks or other settings on appliances. The six outlets are great, it works so well and going to get more in other places I need them around the house.

Bought this after a storm caused our new Mac desktop to shut off. We liked that it had so many outlets, but after plugging the desktop into the protector it would randomly shut the computer off - even without apparent surges. Could be bad outlets but we plugged the computer directly back into the wall and haven’t had a problem. Ran diagnostics and said the computer was fine. We ended up getting a different protector since the automatic shutdown seemed to be working overtime.
