Q: I see the question above but it wasnt actually answered..will this remove regular nail polish?
submitted by DANIELLE - 2 years ago
A: Hello Danielle - Good question. The polish remover pads were not designed to remove the foil to use that way.. it would remove the polish yes, not sure how effective it would be that way. We suggest using them as instructed, hope this helped! Happy Manicuring.

Q: Can you take the pad out of the foil packet and use to remove regular nail polish? It seems that Target no longer sells the Up and Up nail polish remover pads that served that purpose.
submitted by Shanny - 3 years ago
A: Hi Shanny - Thank You for your question! The polish remover pads were not designed to remove the foil to use that way. But hey, who's to say it won't work for you. Either way, Good Luck! Happy Shopping!

While some guests found it effective and easy to use, others experienced issues with dried-out packets, messiness, and ineffectiveness, especially with salon-quality gel polish. These are awesome. I had ultra polish on, not gel, but it took me 8 mins and only one packet to do all 10 nails. Probably would have taken half that time if I hadn’t spent so much time on the first few nails.
Not worth it

Save your money and just use a cotton ball and acetone. I left them on for 20 minutes and they didn’t work. And at least 3 were dried out.

I never write reviews but this product was so bad i felt the need to. You’re better off soaking cotton and using tin foil to do it yourself. I followed the directions to a t and they did nothing. These don’t stay on your nails and do not work.
Works but inconsistent with quality

I bought these in the hopes of making less of a mess and spending less money. I was wrong on both accounts. I should’ve stuck to my foils, cotton balls, and acetone. Half of the box of remover foils were dried out and unusable I will not buy again

Followed directions, only color layer came off. Base layer stayed and was not able to be removed immediately, had to resort later with cotton balls and foil like at salon

I didn't have issues with the directions or using it, but really hoped for better results. I learned after the first nail it's best to only open the packets just enough for your finger to fit. That way it prevents it from falling off. I also would only squeeze right at the top where it's opened to "secure" it and prevent the liquid from squirting out. (Saw issues with both of those in previous reviews.) I just felt it was more difficult than expected to use the cuticle pusher to remove the polish after. Even tried using my nails that still had the feel polish to scrape some off. (That's how I got a lot of, actually.) While using the cuticle pusher to remove it, it created a bit of a mess of colored flakes everywhere. To me, just not worth it. I'd rather pay an extra $6 to go have it removed at a nail salon to be less mess and fully removed.
More trouble than it was worth

I am not a regular at the nail salon, but I was going to an event and decided to get a gel manicure (my 1st). My nails looked great, they didn’t chip, but getting this polish off has been a pain in the rump. I got these foils and followed the directions, but it didn’t work like they promised and took a lot more time and effort than I expected. I filed, put the foils on for 15 minutes, pulled the nails out, tried to use the cuticle thing to pop the polish off with very little success, filed again, put them back in the foils waited, repeat, etc. I have yet to get all the polish off and my nails have taken a beating. The good news is there are 20 foils in the box and since I’m never getting another gel manicure again, I can use the rest of the foils to deal with this nail polish removal disaster. Could the effectiveness of this product depend on the quality of the original manicure or polish?
