The base is clear glass and the lamp comes apart allowing items or decorations of your choosing to be placed in the base. It disembles and assembles very easily. I plan to place decorations in the base for every occasion or holiday. It is a really nice accent piece to any room.

The metal black/brownish color is perfect for my farmhouse beach vibe decor. I can see it being perfect in any room and most design styles. I think the shade is the perfect compliment to the size and look of the lamp. It provides a cozy vibe to my room. I have it full of shells we have collected over the years but am looking forward to filling it seasonally.
