GoodCook Ready Steamer Basket with Extendable Handle

At this point, I’m going to avoid any item that has mostly paid/promotional reviews. Those reviews aren’t honest; the reviewers just want more freebies. This steamer WILL melt and ruin cookware. I’ve never heard of a steamer basket that isn’t meant for heat.

No room below for water so whatever you're steaming gets soaked, lost shape after one use. What a joke.

Super cheaply made. Parts fell off after a couple uses. The lifter part in the middle wore out the threads and wiggles all over. The side even melted onto my pan once!!! Awful!

trash after 2 uses. melted in spots the first time and melted even more the 2nd. steamer can't steam if it melts. shame on target for carrying a brand with such untested and/or terrible products

It melted the first time we used it! What steamer basket melts when being used as a steamer basket?!

It works for its intended purpose and is definitely worth the price. However, the handle part doesn't attach securely to the base. It won't fall through because of how it's made, but it will be wobbly if yours doesn't screw on securely like the one I have. All in all, it's not a bad product and a good price.

So not purchase. The strainer melts against the pot when using.

The plastic steamer cannot compare to a stainless steel one. I had mine for bout a week before I returned it to Target. The stem in the middle elongates for ease of removing it from the steamer pot which is one good feature. One problem I had with that was that, when pushing the telescoping stem back down after pulling it up, it just stayed down and would not go back into its original position. Mine didn't melt but there were plenty enough reviews about that negative aspect. Just buy a stainless steel steamer. They are tuff, easy to clean and you'll be so much happier in the long run. Some also feature the telescoping stem.

This seemed very dangerous to operate. Perhaps it's user error but I don't know how else I would have used it. I tried one time following directions and returned at the following day. I bought an old school metal steamer

Melted in the pot when using it to cook food. If I could give 0 stars I would. This should not be sold in the store at all. Its a waste of money.

I used this steamer once and it literally melted into the pot and stuck to it. wasn't expecting this poor of quality from Target. I thought this would at least be functional as a steamer but it completely failed.

Do NOT buy this, unless you want to ruin your pots. On the first use (used for a few minutes) it melted to our pot and stuck to it! We have to buy a new pot!

I bought this at another store, but thought it was worth mentioning here since I now see this shopping for a different steamer basket … DO NOT BUY!!! It will melt and ruin your pan. For something that is meant to be used on your stovetop, it is not very heat resistant. Tbh, I can’t even believe they say it’s stovetop safe.

We have a gas stove and the flame must get the pan quite hot on the sides--this steamer melted onto our old Revereware pot. I have tred to scrape off the melted splotch--scratched up the pan, but the splotch remains.
