Book Synopsis

Are you ready for a new way of seeing your time? Have you been told you can have it all, only to end up exhausted and occasionally out of sorts with the people you love? Hold yourself and those you love to a more life-giving standard in Grace, Not Perfection, and allow that grace to seep into your days, your family, and your heart.

As a busy wife, mother, and entrepreneur, Emily Ley came to a point when she suddenly realized she couldn't do it all. She needed to simplify her life, organize her days, and prioritize her priorities. She decided to hold herself to a standard of grace rather than perfection. This mantra led to the creation of her bestselling Simplified(R) planner. By embracing grace, not perfection, you will discover how to:

  • Simplify your life by simplifying three major areas: your space, your time, and your mind
  • Create effective to-do lists and get through them one step at a time
  • Center your day around an intentionally slower rhythm of life with various strategies

Grace, Not Perfection is for:

  • Moms, ages 25-50
  • Mother's Day, National Best Friend Day, birthdays, and holiday gifts

Designed with Emily Ley's signature aesthetic, gorgeous photography, and a beautiful ribbon marker, this book gives women tangible ways to simplify their lives to give space to what matters most.

An okay read but not life changing

This book is an easy friend and is like a friend talking to you to enjoy the messes of life. However if you are not a mom, this will not relate to you very well. Also, it’s very cookie cutter in the sense that it’s not really talking about the nitty gritty of problems. No large takeaways but the cover and book was appealing to me!

I bought this book on a whim while grabbing some other items. I read it cover to cover and it was truly life changing. The book itself is beautiful with thick pages and is a very easy read. Emily shares her moments of vulnerability and her challenges that resonate in such a profound way. She simply and articulates her approach to creating a more meaningful life that is based on the things that really matter. The book includes space to write down your reflections and inspires you to really think about how to focus your time and energy on the things that truly matter. I am an avid reader and this book is one that I will go back to over and over again. In a world where women are trying to do it all and achieve an unattainable level of perfection, Emily provides simple, yet often overlooked strategies and guidance for making your life more meaningful. I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so for this book. I wish I had the wisdom and self-awareness at her age to live with more focus and intention and to approach my efforts with more grace and less perfection. I plan on buying this book for many of my friends who struggle every day with the daily demands that compromise our relationships and our ultimate happiness. There is nothing utterly groundbreaking in this book, but it is written in a simple and beautiful way that truly helps adjust your lens and deeply evaluate how your time and priorities are aligned. It is a perfect reset button when life gets utterly overwhelming and you need to adopt a new and sustainable approach for managing the accumulating chaos that inevitably punches us all in the gut and takes our breath away at some point in our lives. I wouldn’t call this a self-help book, but rather a poignant and beautifully written reminder about making time for the things that truly make and define our lives.

I received this book as a gift from my daughter. Very practical and scripture based. I felt like the author knew just what I needed to hear and the experiences she talked about rang true to me. I've bought copies to give to two expectant mothers at my church.

I should've gotten this book months ago. It's a necessity for prioritizing and not letting yourself get stressed over little things.
