Emily did it again. Out of all her books, this is the one I love the most. It is challenging me to think beyond my normal, current circumstances to what I may be capable of achieving if I challenge myself and dig deep. This book connects me to the person I am and was before the world told me who I was, the person I am now after having kids, cancer and going with the flow. Knowing that other women, showcased throughout the book, experienced the same doubts and insecurities that I have, encourages me. I now know, that I can achieve what people have said was impossible. Emily has such a way of encouraging you and also telling you to turn down the noise!! Hustle and rest! Know when to push and know when to rest. Definitely a must buy!!!!

I received an advanced copy of this book and am so glad I did! I feel like this book is so very special. The magic in it is that it can speak to any woman at any point in her journey. I have been a stay at home mom since my son was born 6 years ago. I have been on a journey of trying to figure out what I want to be when I “grow up,” even though I am 32 and probably should know by now. This book has inspired me to start a new journey, not to start a new journey but to take pride in what I am doing right this moment! I am a great mom, and getting better at housework, which is not my spiritual gift. I can be proud of being the best wife and mother I can and I love that that is how I am called to grow boldly! My soul is on fire to BUILD the life I was designed to live.

Life-Changing

I have loved every book that Emily Ley has written but Growing Boldly is seriously something special. I cried multiple times while reading it because it truly touched something within me that I hadn't even known I felt, starting with the quote "It's entirely possible to bloom in the driest of seasons, to flourish when life feels as if it's falling apart." Going into my last few classes of nursing school, the reminder that there is a time to rest but also a time to work hard and hustle was incredibly motivating to me to keep pushing in this season and allow myself to truly rest as I transition into life beyond school. I also haven't been able to stop thinking about how to see true beauty in my life as it is, and to recognize the ways that God has brought me to this current place in life and given me the tools to thrive right where I'm at. This book was simultaneously challenging and restorative in the best ways. I am so grateful to Emily for writing Growing Boldly and I know I will come back to it time and time again.

I have followed Emily for years and have read all her books. Each book is exactly what I have needed in different seasons of my life. Growing Boldly is no exception. The words written on these pages spoke right to my heart, it was like having a conversation with one of my closest friends who pushes me to be the best I can be. From the bold beautiful cover to her last question in the reflection, Emily speaks to you and makes you dig deep and be honest with yourself. This speaks to women at all walks of life and dares them to build a life they love. If you haven’t already read this book; run don’t walk to get a copy, you won’t be disappointed.

Dare to Build a Life You Love!

Reading “Growing Boldly” is like having an encouraging conversation with your close friend. Emily Ley pushes you to really take a close look, dive deep, discover your passions and grow into who you want to be. Using the BUILD acronym, Emily encourages her readers to reflect on their past (the good and the hard times), figure out where you want to go in the future and make your road map… all while serving with kindness and keeping your legacy in mind. Not only does Emily tell her own story, she also includes inspirational stories from friends who grew through their personal storms. She concludes each chapter with a benediction and thought-provoking reflection questions (extra journaling available through the Target exclusive). “We each bring something unique and different to the world. The secret to being successful (and, if you ask me, happy) is figuring out who you are and embracing it.” -Emily Ley

In the promotions prior to the public book release, Emily had an FAQ about Growing Boldy and one of them was “is this a book about business?” The answer, NO! It’s a book about YOU! And you need it, your heart needs it and your future self needs it. As a long time follower, I was curious about what else could Emily could possibly share with the world since she had already had such a profound impact on our lives, how we live and our hearts with her other books. Growing Boldly is unique and “quirky” (a very frequently used adjective from the book). It fills the heart with purpose and hope through deep self-reflection and truth seeking. She encourages and walks readers step by step through making choices today that direct one towards the heart’s calling tomorrow. A quick but meaningful read, read now!

Emily has a way with words! She is encouraging, but direct. She makes you feel like you are sitting down, with a warm cup of coffee, to have a heartfelt and serious conversation about what’s next in life. I highly encourage this book, if you need some encouragement!

This book is beautiful and a quick read if you are looking for something uplifting to motivate you

I finished Emily Ley’s “Growing Boldly” last night and am thunderstruck. Having followed Emily for years I can say her transformation to be unapologetically and “effortlessly herself” is authentic and pours out into her words. As a woman of faith she’s rooted her connection to God and Jesus Christ as the driver of her strength, BUT this book is not only for those that subscribe to the same views. She’s framing her life in concepts and terminology that fits within her personal paradigm, and invites us to do the same within our own belief systems. She is inspiring us, daring us, to build a life we love by sharing her own experience under the premise of if she can do it so can we. Emily shares with us her wins and how they sparked the fire within her soul to keep moving forward. And then she allows space for us to reflect on our own lives, what we want deep at our core, and what that finished product will look like once we are done. I loved when she said at the end that she hopes “I am absolutely used up at the end of my days – having given every ounce of love until I had to more to give, having pursued every curiosity big and small, frivolous or meaningful, and having fully blossomed and poured every ounce of Emily out onto the world so other flowers can come up behind me.” I think that is all any of us want. This book also serves as a time capsule for the Pandemic experience. 2020 took so much from us but also gave us so much if we are willing to consider the other side. Emily addresses this head on in a way that will make you consider your own experience and what has changed for the good in your life. Because from every tragedy, every hardship, there is hope, there is opportunity for you to rise above and grow, boldly. This book is beautiful and a quick read if you are looking for something uplifting to motivate you. She says herself this book is not a “boss babe” hustle till it hurts type of book. I don’t consider it a step by step guide to take the easy path to passion either. But rather, I see this book as a map; plotting where you are going, and where you are coming from; let’s figure out how YOU get where you need to be.
