Q: My pan has a slight perfumy smell and when I washed it the dish soap bubbles looked pink instead of white. Is there some something put on the pan for export that would cause this?

submitted by Tycke - 2 years ago
  • A: The coating is sealed so there is nothing that can come off when washing. If you believe there is an issue with your pan, please feel free to contact customercare.us@greenpan.com for assistance.

Q: Are these pans completely free of APEOs (alkylphenol ethoxylates)?

submitted by Annie - 4 years ago
  • A: We use Thermolon ceramic nonstick coating. You can read more about it here. https://www.thermolon.co.kr/ The main material is a sand derivative. By applying a Sol-Gel procedure, the sand derivative is transformed into a spray-able solution. No need for any chemicals like PTFE, PFOAs, APEO, Cadmium and Lead. The solution is then sprayed onto the body of the fry pan without glue or additives. Finally, the pan is cured in the oven with 60% less CO2 emissions compared to traditional non-stick. Our cookware does not contain Nano particles. Thermolon does not contain any Nano particles. Accordingly, there is no possibility for Nano particles to leach into the food when cooking with GreenPan. Beneath multiple layers of ceramic there is an aluminum core that is pillowed in the center of all our cookware because it is a great heat conductor. If you were to scratch the surface of your pan you would not reach the aluminum in the center of the pan.

Horrible pan. Have had these around 6 months and no matter how much oil or butter, the pan sticks horribly. I am now past the window of return.

We are very sorry to hear about the issues with your cookware. This issue can be easily resolved! It is likely that you have a layer of carbonized oil built up on your pan that will create a barrier between the pan and your food. When this happens, you are basically cooking on the layer of oil as opposed to the surface of the pan. This layer may not be visible. This cleaning method has proven to be extremely successful and can be used when you notice staining and/or sticking. For the best results, please try this method twice. Once complete, you may resume normal washing with soap and sponge. Fill the pan halfway with water and bring it to a near boil for about 2 minutes. Pour out the water and place the pan on a sturdy surface such as a wooden cutting board. Carefully use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on the warm surface; this should do the trick. If this does not work, please email GreenPan directly at customercare.us@greenpan.com. They are happy to help!

Do not buy

Kell - 8 months ago
I bought this because I liked how it didn't have the nonstick Teflon material. Unfortunately it was worse, and the fact that this is supposed to be "green" is a joke because i had to throw it in the trash in under 2 years. I literally could not scrape the food off of this pan. Almost from the first time i used it it had a sort of gross brown stain from cooking with it but I stuck it out. It got to a point where everytime I tried to make an egg it became a huge event just trying to scrub the remnants, even after I coated the pan in oil. This pan is terrible and I am looking for a replacement as we speak.

I’ve had my 12” pan for a little over 3 yrs now. It’s my go to pan I use it for everything, everyday. I hand wash with soap I use a scrubby on it if there is some cooked on food. I’ve never have had an issue. It’s still non stick. There is some discoloration on the bottom of the pan. Not sure if that’s from using a gas stove. Read other reviews where folks are following all these rules and such. If my pan came with rules etc I must have tossed them.

Bought the 2-pack last year for my husband. We're great non-stick for 3 weeks. Then stuck like crazy!! We followed the directions, never used a scrubby on them, and they just stuck! Then wouldn't come 100% clean. You could feel but not see a residue left in areas. Where the residue was, the pan stuck badly. Could only get the residue off by - yes - scrubbing it with a scrubby. Then the pan wouldn't stick for 2-3 uses - until the residue came back. At this point the residue won't come off and everything sticks horribly. 1 year later we've literally thrown them in the trash.

I bought these pans, and the first two days i had them they were great. I followed the instructions very carefuly, warmed the pans up on low, then on high, greased them as suggested, bought silicon utensils everything. A lot of prep work for a few pans. But it was worth it and they were incredible. eggs slid out of them, nothing stuck. not even cheese. Then after two washes, disaster. I cant even get an egg to not stick to the bottom. Hamburger sticks. Literally EVERYTHING sticks. So i look. how did i mess up. I followed all the solutions: lower heat, different oils, scrubbed with a magic eraser. But lemme tell you, these are the absolute most useless pans i ever bought. I will not even donate these, theyre going straight in the trash after 3 weeks of use. THREE WEEKS.

I read the other reviews before buying but chose to buy anyways. They are exactly right. These pans are unbelievably good at first, probably the best I’ve ever used, but after about 1 month of light use, everything is starting to stick and there are faint brown stains in the coating. I didn’t wash them at all and treated it almost like a cast iron, wiping out excess oil with paper towel when done. Overall not worth it because they’re useless now. I will be returning them. Just purchased Caraway non stick pans instead.
